Calgary for the win! What a game. Oettinger put on an absolute clinic!

So ready for the next round! Let's go!!

#1312 1 year ago

Well, I went 5 out of 8 for my first round picks! These were who I picked to win (from this thread before the series started:

Tampa
Boston - XX loser XX
Minnesota - XX loser XX
Edmonton
Pittsburgh - XX loser XX
Florida
Colorado
Calgary

Lots of surprises.. I'll post my 2nd round picks tomorrow.

And that’s why the hockey gods have spited all of Canada. Apparently they thought it was chickenshit.

vicjw66 Soooo... does this mean the hockey Gods are on Canada's side again? Or simply that they are against LA and Dallas. It's confusing is all. Looking for clarification.

#1315 1 year ago

Malkin finished first round 32nd in points for which 9 of those 31 players had fewer GP. He was tied for 4th in points on the pens team with none other then Jeff Carter.

Basically malkin is getting 6 mill extra to put up Carter like numbers in the playoffs. Regular season doesn’t fair much better but Carter had more GP then Geno.

So with the BoA this guarantees a Canadian team making it to the semis!

Still shaking my head at the loss!!! Not speaking if the Pens as I expected that, but the Leafs

#1320 1 year ago
Quoted from meSz:

Malkin finished....

Frankenmalkin did his best but it's over buddy; thanks for the memories.
LeTang actually playing well but I don;t know how much of a cut he would take.

I really thought the pens and leafs would win those series as dark horses. I even said in 7 games for both.

If they both won my bracket would be bitchin! But alas....

One Canadian team is making it to the western conference finals guaranteed! The BoA is gonna be a slobberknocker!!

#1325 1 year ago

The Leafs will be serious contenders for the 2022 Stanley Cup. You Know it , I know it , the balloons know it.

Well, just like the balloons, they got blown up.

Yeah I mean we joke about a jinx but starting to believe in them.

Bacon only specializes in single team jinxes.

The double jinxes are exclusive to Vic.

Woulda been nice to see Law get his reverse jinx last night though.

A near trifecta!

So no one’s going out on a limb and saying it’ll be an improbable Cup threepeat?

#1337 1 year ago

#1338 1 year ago

$ says it was a leafs fan!

Not sure but apparently Range Rover said it was custom made vehicle for Marner since he was a Leaf.

They say you should be on the lookout for a Range Rover with no cup holders.

Be sure to wear your Toronto Jersey for entertainment!

Watched Lightning/Panthers, and discovered two things- the refs were awful (the interference call was horrific) and the fans in Sunrise are DEAD. But really not surprised, most of them just started watching hockey 2 weeks ago.

Blues/Avs is everything I thought it would be, it just went into O.T... Can't believe they called the penalty on Schenn at the end, we'll see if it matters...

EDIT: Blues/Avs over now, what an amazing game by Binnington, too bad it ended in a loss for him (I have no favorites for this series).

#1342 1 year ago

Watching the Blues is like watching the pens … rely on the goalie to win the game!!!

No one in Tampa cares. Half the population are transplants from cold weather climates including New York, New England, and of course Canada. It’s the #3 real estate market in the US and the population is booming. It was growing fast but when Covid hit and people started working from home it went crazy.

That said it is a surprisingly rabid hockey town given the warm weather climate, even before the last couple of cups. I was surprised by how many rinks there are down here.

Avs are awesome! All other teams should be worried.

While I agree... STL looked to handle them pretty well... or at Least Binnington did!! lol

Avs outplayed the blues for the most part, and hit so much iron. That game could of been a blowout..

You know Andy as an old Leaf fan...i just dont give a shit anymore I just want to see good hockey
And Leaf fans gobble up tickets that are really unaffordable every year since forever..embarrassing and future looks sketchy with Matthews contract extension looming

#1349 1 year ago
Quoted from luch:

Mabey Trade Matthews?
Ask him outright: do you plan on leaving this is a business and you are rich beyond your dreams. If you are undecided you are gone. Don't think Mathews or McDavid will stay..hope I'm wrong on both fronts. How can he be undecided after next year?? Imagine the media freak out. Not worth it imo

#1350 1 year ago

In my playoff hockey pool, this year I went with two entries. Tampa vs Colorado final or Florida vs Colorado final. I'm a big Tampa fan, so I had to choose them, but that first series really could've gone either way. Hopefully Point can come back soon, we'll need him if we want to make a serious run at a third cup.
Honestly though Colorado is the team to be feared this year, and why I chose them to win their conference in both of my entries. They're just so good.
