    Quoted from gmanrulz46:

sounds like uber is better then renting car.

There are a lot of toll roads in Dallas that the locals know how to avoid. It’s cheaper to use Uber if you’re not a local

Huh? The only toll roads you might possibly take between *EITHER* airport would be George Bush (180), 121, or the express lanes on 635 and (Really no point here, as you would save less than 5 minutes since you're going to get off on....) , the Dallas North Tollway. We don't have a lot of toll roads compared to like...Miami...or Houston....that are utterly MANDATORY to get where you need to go. There's always an alternate route.

The DNT is pretty cheap, compared to the express lanes on 635. Like maybe 3 or 4 bucks of tolls to get all the way to Frisco.

Use Uber if you're not going anywhere other than the hotel and walking distance. Get a car if you plan or need to go elsewhere. If you don't want to pay tolls...it's really EASY to avoid them...just stay on the service road, especially the DNT. North of 635, and for a little ways south, there's service road all the way up to Frisco. It's a million and a half lights, but hey... no toll.

Google Maps is just as good as any local at avoiding tolls...if you tell it to.

    Thats what i do.

Last year the driver came back to my hotel at the end on Sunday and took us to the airport for $25 cash.

    Awesome experience.

    George Bush

Ah, yes, the "LGBT" Tollway. Hah.

I rented a car for the weekend for $75

    Quoted from Coyote:

Ah, yes, the "LGBT" Tollway. Hah.

I'm local and I don't even get this joke. I'm assuming it has something to do with it always being abbreviated PGBT. (Literally have never heard anyone local conflate it with LGBT, as a joke or otherwise...)

Frankly, I think that was an asinine name either way, but then again 635 is technically "LBJ Highway" so whatever. Might as well stick with a theme, I guess.

Can't wait for them to rename 75 to the "PGBTJr"....

Huh! I have friends down there and visit often, and have heard it a LOT. (However, my 'local' friends live up in Denton, at the university, which may be why.)

    - Just FYI

Will have Alice Cooper Nightmare Castle #426 at TPF and she is for sale - $7,000.00

My challenge coin came a week ago, but my weekend pass hasn't come in.

Do they mail the passes out or do we pick them up there ?

    What is a challenge coin?

    Quoted from marioparty34:

They are very cool. Specifically, see the latest Texas coin here:

    Wikipedia definition:

A challenge coin may be a small coin or medallion, bearing an organization’s insignia or emblem and carried by the organization’s members. Traditionally, they might be given to prove membership when challenged and to enhance morale. In addition, they are also collected by service members and law enforcement personnel. Modern challenge coins are made in a variety of sizes and are often made using popular culture references to include superheroes and other well known characters....

    Those are cool! Thanks!

The coin has more meaning than that for pinball. I don’t know if this still happens, but when I was a teen, you'd put your quarter on the glass to indicate it was your turn at the machine.

If someone had their quarter up, you could play all the credits on the machine, but you couldn’t put in more money. It was their turn.

The challenge coin at a pinball event recognizes or honors the tradition.

Is the truck with the project games going to make an appearance in the flea market area again this year?

Looking like it. We’ve been cleaning the warehouse out again and probably bring 30+ project, parts games to the swap meet. Bring cash ☺️

    #117 4 years ago

I just entered a rare pinball in TPF. This makes it only the 2nd location in North America that will have it for public play.

Does anyone know if Multimorphic will be there again this year doing the playfield glass deal? I stock up every time and was hoping to do the same again this year.

    Quoted from Gexchange:

    Did someone say sushi?

If you are looking for quality Sushi and want to treat yourself go to Uchi in Uptown Dallas! Everything is Tapas style but I have never had anything like their 72 hour braised short rib which melts like butter in your mouth. Honestly it just dissolves in your mouth leaving this amazing flavor!

    https://uchidallas.com/

Of course if you want to spend some extra $$$ go to Nobu.

    https://www.noburestaurants.com/dallas/home/

Bishop Cidercade is the best pincade with craft beers but again it's near downtown Dallas.

How long does the Classics Side Tournament usually last on Saturday? The website says it starts at 9AM. I am trying to work out my volunteer hours and want to avoid a conflict in the (unlikely) event that I will still be playing in the touney.

    Thanks,

    #135 4 years ago

Thursday night 3/26 there will be an unofficial pre-tournament for everyone who wants more WPPRs/is bored on Thursday night after getting into town.

The location is Free Play Arlington which is about 45 minutes from the venue. Probably will start 7ish. 3 strikes format, free tournament (with venue entry) no prizes but bragging rights and WPPRs. The venue cost is $11 after tax for unlimited play on all games and the venue is 18+ after 9PM on weekdays (21+ after 9 on Fri and Sat).

Take Sam Rayburn(121) south until you get to the exit for 360. Take 360 south till you get to Abrams. Go west on Abrams until you hit Collins. Turn left on Collins and get in the right lane as you will be turning right right away onto Border (no light). Turn right on Mary St and see if there is room in the lot, if not use street parking or the Chamber of Commerce lot should be fine after 5 I believe they don't tow people (don't use the J. Gilligan's/Dollar General or Fuzzy's parking lots, they do).

Or just put 400 E South st in your navigation system of choice.

    Quoted from bernieberg:

How long does the Classics Side Tournament usually last on Saturday?

Expect eight hours or so. We're over 200 entrants so far so it's a 24 person finals, 3 games per round.

    #139 4 years ago

@bradalbright Whoa that looks awesome. Great job!

    #140 4 years ago

Is there a tournament for machines that don’t have a deep rule set? Games that someone who hasn’t played them before wouldn’t be at a huge disadvantage, not knowing the deep rules?

There’s s classics tournament and that should fit that description for the most part.
