We decided to stay a week in Texas and surrounding area, it's our first time visiting so I am willing to drive after the show no problem : ) I really appreciate all your suggestions.

You forgot to mention one of the top rated BBQ joints in the U.S.A....and it is less than 5 minutes away from table 13

    Jerry World?

    HELL. NO.

I live here, and I honestly would not even go if it moved there. Number one, Jerry Jones is a douche. Number two, he already tried to fleece Dallas out of money to pay for that monstrosity, and I declined it once already, thank you very much. Number three, that entire area is a traffic NIGHTMARE. Number four, there's no bloody hotel in the stadium, much less free happy hour. Number five, Irving police.....don't even get me started.

*edit* If anyone wants to buy some homemade BBQ sauce.... I make it. Just saying. I have a pressure canner, and although something that high in acid (tomatoes) doesn't really *require* pressure canning, it's what I do. The stuff keeps a long ass time. :p

Thoughts on the best Mexican or Tex/Mex near the Embassy Suites? Thanks.

I'm a local. Go to Mexican sugar, ernestos, or blue goose. Heck...go to All 3 if you can!!

This will be my second TPF, can't wait to see what's announced and watch all the panels.

If anyone isn’t going and has a hotel room booked please let me know I some how messed up booking a room.

    #61 4 years ago

cause there was about a three hour window to book it, i slept through it booo

garden in this year for me...

    Call Mark at Discovery Inn
    1-972-303-1900
    825 I-30, Garland, TX 75043

He is the owner and a huge pinball guy with connections. He gives discounts (rooms are already cheap, though).

He also has an AMAZING lineup at his hotel where you can play whenever you want for free. Tons of pinballers that are "in the know" stay at his hotel every year.

It is about 15-20 minutes away from the venue, but it is a hidden gem that books up fast.

    Best Frisco Steakhouse?

You want ‘Texas’ experience or an amazing steak?

La Hacineda in Frisco is Mexican good, but they have a legit bone in rib eye.

Steak House: Silver Fox, Del Frisco’s and Perry’s in Frisco. A few miles outside of Frisco is Bobs Steakhouse, Haywire (tomahawk is amazing),3 Forks, and my all time favorite anywhere in the world, Al Beirnats!!

    #64 4 years ago
    Quoted from YeOldPinPlayer:

They have one in Plano now, 75 and Plano Parkway!

Is the truck with the project games going to make an appearance in the flea market area again this year?

    #68 4 years ago

I'll recommend Slow Bone down in the Design District next to downtown Dallas for some of the best BBQ in the DFW area. It's also 5 minutes away from Cidercade if you want more retro arcade gaming and pinball action along other 2 dozen ciders on tap.

    #69 4 years ago

I vote for Al Bernet's. The others are good, too. Nix on Rodeo Goat, unless you like good solid burgers fancied up (ruined) with weird toppings. No normal burger on the menu.

    Quoted from Frax:

..Number five, Irving police.....don't even get me started.

What? You know that the Cowboys haven't been in Irving for years now, right? They have a new stadium in Arlington..

And YES, go take a tour of it for anyone coming to Dallas. It's worth it.

Yeah , Frax is geographically challenged .( reading a map can be hard). But the ATT Stadium , the new Rangers Globe Life Park and Texas Live are worth a half day trip to see . ( Especially for our guests from out of state or out of the country )

I miss Labnip giving his count down of the days until TPF. Looks like he hasn’t been on Pinside in along time. Hope he is doing ok.

Yeah, I misspoke. Big whoop. Both of those areas suck, in terms of traffic and policing thereof. I have to drive through Irving to get to Arlington from my place, hence the brain fart.

Either way, what I said still applies. The entire area around the new stadium is a fucking nightmare of epic proportions, especially with the Wal-Mart right there across the street.

His real name is Brett Butler and he’s on Facebook all the time. He runs a delivery service for arcades, pins, etc.
