Sooooo many awards and they start to lose their meaning.

I take it you’ve never been to a dance competition.

Quoted from PinMonk:

That would really piss your dentist off. They're very touchy about that.

My wife wondered why I did a spit take in the car while reading this... and to be honest, it was a delayed reaction... “what does a dentist have to do with a 22 gauge wiring harne—- <Nose Blast> <Choke> <chortle> lol

Yeah, dentists also hate (which means they love it) popcorn old maids... my dentist once said they account for over 75% of broken teeth, crowns, bridges, braces etc...

This is what makes it all worthwhile.

For those who missed it, the drama, as Kanada told it from the pulpit, er, I mean the lecturn, er, I mean the podium while accepting his Twipy was that the source of the rumor was none other than George Gomez (I was drunk whe I posted SR in error, sorry Steve) and named him by name. I am NOT picking any side on this one, too hot for my tastes, however, as an innocent bystander, it was some high drama for the pin world. Thats a really short take on it, but figured if anyone was still in the dark on what happened, this explanation might help.

Yep, he Said George Gomez.

My ears did a double take when he said that. I Love George and he seems like a very level headed dude. I don't see him messing with people, even K-man.

Another great TPF, the weekend flew by way too quickly. Big thanks to all the volunteers and everyone who brought a machine to play. So many great pins this year, new ones, old ones, beautifully restored ones so something for everyone. Definitely bigger and busier than before, still one of the top 3 events in the country if not the best. We’ll be back next year again, can’t wait already!

Great show, stuck in the airport now due to storms rolling through.

Saw a X-Men Wolverine on the way out wrapped up, where was that all show?

Pinball News has a nice, long, detailed show walk through video, as usual.

It was the only place I saw my new Deluxe SPIKE 2 Speaker Light Kit. This weekend I have watched many walk through videos, live stream walk thoughs as well as seen many pictures and forum post about the show.....as far as I can see, this 5 second clip and this picture my friend snapped after installing the light kit is the only evidence my new Deluxe SPIKE 2 Speaker Light Kit was at the show.

If you are interested, I encourage you to watch the whole 45 minute video. I have watched a few different walk throughs of the show, but this one is easily the most detailed and all encompassing. Pinball News Martin really does some nice walk through videos.

Was the Wizard Blocks game their this year?

Quoted from Chalkey:

Did not see wizard blocks

Hey gents,

Sorry I didn't bring it this year. Between supporting various software projects with Spooky, Circus Maximus/Kingpin, Multimorphic, Suncoast, Gameroommods, etc there wasn't much time to babysit the game. Maybe if I bulletproof it a bit more I'd bring it back. I don't see my workload decreasing much over the next year, so I might bring the Demolition Man 2000 custom conversion next year since it's pretty damn solid.

Loved seeing everyone at the show, and I can't wait until next year! For those of you going to MGC, see you there!

So much fun. I love TPF. This is probably preaching to the choir in this thread but I highly encourage you to exhibit pins if you are local. It really adds to the experience.

It was really cool seeing the new games at MULTIPLE vendor booths this year...

Beatles was in at least two spots
Munsters was in 3-4 booths
Octoberfest was at 3-4 booths
POTC was in multiple booths

Really strong vendor showing as well. Its nice seeing new stuff being sold.. and new displays.

Still have trouble finding different games NOT in the vendor booths. Would love to see 'zones' or interest areas in the future if possible. Clusters like they do a tad near the front... but clusters for homebrew, for those vying for best of show, etc. Maybe its there.. but I missed it both last and this year

TPF2019 was a strong show for sure!

I agree but the current system favors load in efficiency over any sorting. Super nice games and the show theme games are right in the front. Other than that it is pretty much first come first serve with some clustering based on groups (Oklahoma pinball group here, Houston pinball group there, etc).

#834 5 years ago

Thank you Texas.
Everyone involved in putting on this wonderful show, well done.
Hope to see you all again next year.

Quoted from Higloss67:

Disappointed with CGC games. Flippers are set way too weak and tilts are set too sensitive. Barely breath and they tilt.

It did seem like a lot of the Monster Bashes had scoops that tended to shoot frequently SDTM, and the tilt made any attempt to save it futile. But later on I did get to RTU on one of the AFMs (and it was actually the first time I ever failed it).

#836 5 years ago

Funny story. I was playing Munsters Premium in the Fun/Marco area, and I was having my best game by far ( no tilt bob?), 90M. It was the end of the show and time to get off the machines. But I had Munster Madness lit. Just wanted to see it start. Please, God, let me hit the scoop. Reject, drain. Next ball, quick drain. Next ball, reject, reject, reject, guy turns off the power. Oh well it was time to leave. Did I mention that stinking scoop has lots of rejects?

#837 5 years ago

I had to leave at 1:30 to catch my flight out.

Were the dates for TPF 2020 announced?

#838 5 years ago
Quoted from cjchand:

If there was a System 11 zone, I would never leave.

There were so many system 11 games there:

Banzai Run, Black Knight 2000, Cyclone, Dr. Dude, Diner, Elvira and the Party Monsters,
F -14 tomcat, Fire!, Gameshow, High Speed, Jokerz, Mousin around, Pin*Bot, Police Force,
Pool sharks, Radical!, Riverboat Gambler,
Rollergames, Swords of fury, and Whirlwind
were all there at the show.

I was shocked that taxi or earthshaker were NOT there, however.

Another great TPF event. I was honored to have been chosen as a runner up in the 90's pin category for our Lethal Weapon 3. There were some really nice pins brought in this year. My son and I worked on LW3 for a long time and enjoyed it very much. I hope some of you got to enjoy it as well. The total plays for the weekend was 623.

Here is what she started out as and where we are today...

Not many on my pro especially after setting the flipper power to soft. It also depends alot on the pin set up. I tend to use the right flipper more for scoop shots... just to be safe... especially when munster madness is lit

Not only are you misquoting him (he said George Gomez bc GG told Kaneda 2 years ago at a show that he doesn’t know s**t.), that was not Kaneda’s source. I know because I know who his source was and had it independently confirmed by Jeff from TWIP.

Glad you enjoyed tpf

I’m pretty sure I saw an earthshaker there... but I don’t think there was a taxi.

Another great show, if not the best. The accommodations, games, and the community coming together takes this show to a new level. Already looking forward to next year.

#848 5 years ago
Quoted from tilted81:

I’m pretty sure I saw an earthshaker there... but I don’t think there was a taxi.

I saw at least 2 whirlwinds, but no earthshaker.

#849 5 years ago

i want to thank everyone, sincerely, for correcting my mistake and making it clear that I was having WAY too much fun at TPF.

To Steve Ritchie, my apologies for the INCORRECT attribution of said rumor, and my apologies to Kanada for mis-quoting him and his source. Total failure on my part, and not done with any malice or bad intent. Simply my brain on too much alcohol, fun, and pinball. Not an excuse, just the facts.

And to my peers, thank you for correcting my mistake, I certainly wanted to be accurate, and I was as wrong as you could get. Thank you for clearing it up while I was passed out on my flight home. All the Pinsiders I met were cool, and it helps to finally put faces to avatars and avatars to names. I enjoyed talking with everyone I met. It helps to see we are all human, and in person, you people are not the crazy, tin-hatted, keyboard warriors living in your parents’s basements like me that I thought you were. Ok, technically it’s not a basement, they are not my parents, the hat is lead, not tin, and I don’t sit around sharpening my keyboard with a whetstone.

Again, my apologies, and thanks.
