The demise of Heighway Pinball and its ripple effect..... The Stern distributor parties weren't enough to keep the place afloat.
Quoted from chad:Of all the times I have gone with a group , one time it took dam near an hour to get food...
That's on purpose; there are orders to sell at least two drinks per customer.
I started bringing my kids when they were 7 and 5. My son stayed involved with pins and became a tech for the VFW events and also has his mini-bike repair certificate. Despite Clay, He parlayed this into a career in the slot biz so now he works with the newest Bally & Williams equipment among others.
Quoted from Gryszzz:Thanks Ryan, but the whole draw of Expo for me is walking 100 yards to my room for a beer. I was gonna skip this year, I'm a little burnt out on pinball and security last year was way too overbearing for me. I miss the old door guys I used to see every year. Just wasn't the same.
Then I decided screw it, I'm going. I got a room for Sat, just not Thurs and Fri. We'll see. Thanks for the tip though bub.
PM Sent.
Quoted from LTG:Expo has always been on me. CGC has paid to send me to TPF and MGC. Mike gave me the room for running tournament one time, and for my seminars. That has been reduced.
At any show I'm at. If I beat them in when the vendors can get in, I clean all the glasses ( Spooky's a time or tow too ), and help with repairs if needed.
LTG : )
The third sentence tells us where Expo's priorities are now focused.
Quoted from PinballOrphanage:My 3 I brought to the show. Elvira was added about a month ago when I found out she was coming to the show!! I was able to get her to sign the Apron for my machine!![quoted image][quoted image]
Now that pic right there is a classic example of an autograph fee being recouped if one sells a machine. Well done.
Quoted from yancy:VFW show sells out via word of mouth but he still drives to Chicago & back just to plaster Expo with flyers and measure dicks, I mean count machines. That's dedication.
BERK came to the VFW show a couple of times to measure dicks, I mean count machines, as well. Took notes and figured how to screw Mike over and get all of the money instead of just half.
Quoted from davijc02:Wait...
Where was the dick measuring going on at!?
I’ve been wanting to get my official stats for years
Arlene's Truck Stop on I-94 on the West edge of Battle Creek (Exit 92) had one in the restroom not long ago.
Really good food there too.
