I know Color DMD does a preorder and pickup at show to save on shipping. Any other show specials on parts or mods? Show coupon codes? Pickup at show order offers?

LCDs are sold out for availability to pickup at the show. Bummed about that. Available 10/31 now. LEDs are still available though.

Um....so....any chance the Beetlejuice one will be available at some point/place, for those of us not able to get to the Expo? I need that...

    #365 4 years ago

Is Beetlejuice going to be a future pin theme, or just wishful thinking?

Just cancelled my Westin reservations, staying at Hawthorn now. Why spend $450 when you can pay $120 and get free breakfast. Westin needs to rethink their rates.

Nice job, save that money to invest elsewhere!

How do you get to the show from Hawthorn?

Edit. Never mind I found it. For those wondering, the Hawthron is about 3.2 miles from the show.

It’s not super close, I have my vehicle so it’s not a prob but it’s beyond walking distance. So Uber, taxi, or buy a bike at goodwill or something. Obviously, that money would offset the savings so....it’s for those with a car, or know someone with a car. My whole family is going so my car will be full. There are lots of hotels in the area for 60-100/night though. At Westin’s 150, it’s definitely a premium, and no free breakfast. I’ve had good luck at holiday inn express which is just down street, although still prob too far to walk, but you do get a hot breakfast.

    #371 4 years ago

Yeah distance is the most important thing to me. I’ll have my car too. I just want to be able to make regular trips to the room without it being a pain.

    #372 4 years ago

The biggest advantage to staying on site obviously is you have a private bathroom, and maybe being able to park once and not worry about finding a spot. I remember a yr when they booked a couple weddings the same weekend as expo....that was a disaster for parking.

    #373 4 years ago

In my case it is the worry of having to drive after drinking. At 150 a night for two nights is still cheaper then a 10,000 dollar ticket. Uber would be ok but like to have a beer when I want to!

    #374 4 years ago

Agreed. I think I’ll stay put. The price tag hurts, but I’m loving the convenience factor.

    Westin - $150ish/nt
    Hawthorne - $100ish/nt
Stumbling back to your room after celebrating all night from Chuckwurts Flip-Out tourney win - PRICELESS

    #376 4 years ago

Yes, obviously if you want to drink then the Westin is your best choice. I’m a non-drinker so that never registered in my thought process. I’m just no fun

Hawthorn is showing 68/night on Expedia right now. I booked at 40/night. That’s basically a free color dmd not stay at Westin.....or I can gorge myself at superdawg with proceeds to jdrf.

And yes I will keep bumping it, as I'd rather be annoying and possibly get more people there. The Superburger doesn't get as much press, but is very good as well. But my favorite is the Whoopskidawg.

With no restaurant now, where are we supposed to go? Do they expect us to order delivery or something?

The Getaway Power Board trace repair needed. Anyone at the Chicago Expo that can fix a board trace between regulator and Capacitor please let me know.

    Thanks!

Rob Anthony always has a repair room...he's great. Down the main hallway on the left across from free play. I'd get it to him asap though before he gets super busy.

    #390 4 years ago

Spears has a solid beer list usually and a really good bourbon list if you want something stronger between games. Cost more than Twin Peaks, but I think the food and beer are better.

Shoot me a PM. I'm willing to ship after the show if you pre-pay. Franchi will be signing and numbering the BJ and SM '78 translites. $335 shipped within the lower 48 for art of your choice + premium backlit frame. Superman '78 just in (looks way better in person than in this pic).

Is anyone bringing an Attack From Mars pinball to Chicago Expo next week? Please message me, thanks!

WAYYY better. I love that place. Losing Twin Peaks only bothers me in the fact that it probably means Spears is going to be more crowded than it used to be!

    #397 4 years ago

Next week at this time I'll be at Expo and have gone through half the mugs.

Getting exciting. Can't wait to see my friends. Old and new ones I meet.
