I'm going to be the first to tell you ash-holes to not buy damn hotel rooms until at least Nov...

Quoted from Bugsy:No, those are the same dates as SXSW! This is the second time the dates have been the same. Looks like I'll have to miss TFP 2018, again. 2017 was a blast, but I wasn't able to make 2016 because of the dates
OMG... That is awesome... means I can avoid the SXSW hell here in Austin that weekend.
Dat is some bullsh1t...
2017 clearly stated:
RATE RULES AND CANCELLATION POLICY:
• Your reservation is guaranteed for late arrival.
• Please contact us should you need to cancel your reservation.
• Cancellations are required by 4PM on Mar 22, 2017 local hotel time.
where as the 2018 states:
RATE RULES AND CANCELLATION POLICY:
• Your reservation is guaranteed for late arrival, by a non-refundable deposit of 169.50 USD that has been/will be charged to your credit card.
That's pretty uncool in my opinon.
Quoted from Quiddity:Ed and/or Paul. Non refundable deposits a year in advance seems highly
I'm guessing Ed_in_Texas and paul have very little to do with this decision. My gut is that there was a lot of musical rooms this year because it sold out way in advance... and this is the hotel's way of "securing" a room for only the serious attendee. I'd even go so far as to bet that the hotel didn't even inform the organizers of this change and just "did it".
Quoted from labnip:early enough to use these breakfast passes in 2018
The trick is to get up early enough... then go back for a nap.
By far the best day is Friday morning as most of us aren't there and they still do hot waffles made to order.
TPF out grew Grapevine.
I personally am fine where it's at for now; as I'm highly doubtful the Gaylord will be cheaper or better for the exhibitor.
Quoted from labnip:Fast forward to today, I called to ask a couple of questions about the reservation, and the guy mentioned they only had 2 rooms left (total), and they were at the $150+tax rate.
That sh1t has got to stop. Booking a room 1year in advance and the mfer sells out?
I appreciate what the organizers have done with the show... but this "premier show" thing may start to be come a serious problem.
Quoted from labnip:might rent an RV instead of UHaul
i'll be the guy living in a van down by the river.
Sounds like a plan. I'd offer to bunk with you... but know your have a drinking hobby.
:Self Censor: It was not my intention to offend the OP with my comments.
I took it to far so am deleting the post.
Quoted from labnip:i took you off facebook so you won't see any of those useless posts by me.
Are you really pissed? or mock angry?
I didn't expect you to get angry as I was giving you crap.
My issue is that We've ?already? sold out the hotel and 6 pages in on a thread about an event that is still by your count 335 days away.
TBH, I was simply worried that people who are casual Pinside readers are going to see 6 pages... or lets be honest... 28pages of thread bumps with no real data at the first of the year.
In this case in MY OPINION; 30 pages of bumps is going to do little to encourage people to come to the show.
In fact; it will proably set the wrong tone long term.
I'm truly sorry you felt I need to be blocked / attacked. In retrospective; I should have put a sarcastic smily on my post.
I guess I incorrectly thought we had a freindship that could take some occational ribbing. Regardless; Best of luck with you nice pinball collection. I appreciate you inviting me over.
Pinball-Mods.com is offering "Free" shipping to TPF'2018.
Simply purchase your poison on our site; pay for it - including shipping. Put in the order comments you wish to pickup at TPF and I'll refund the shipping via Paypal.
Quoted from MrArt2u:Can I renew this at the show?
Please no... I don't want tape on my coin chutes.
4 of 5 Star Trek Pinball machines are "armored"/"Wrapped".
Picking up Box Truck tomorrow at 2:30pm.
Soon... Soon.
Quoted from RyanClaytor:Regardless of whether or not you want a pinside shirt
Well; it entirely depends on if they are Fat-Man-Friendly(TM)
Quoted from Frax:Why are there suddenly all these top tier players coming? Seems odd but hey...
Because it's TPF, derrr...
I think next year will be even bigger with more p-sport than socializing.
But hey, The show is what you make it right? So for me TPF will always be about bringing games and socializing with friends and pinheads. As long a we don't have a hostel takeover of event staff - I'm happy to support the show.
Quoted from iceman44:If possible, do TPF one week later in the future, you will avoid a bunch of spring break conflicts and I would get to come
The rumor was that TPF ?always? coincides with Spring Break of the area schools.
Unsure if there is truth to that rumor; but it made sense to me.
