Quoted from Butch2099:Still wearable right??? At least when the wife's not around
The dog has amazing modern fashion sense! The cap is now worth over $100 in NYC.
I booked a room at the embassy suites for next years TPF !
Now I need to figure out airfare and what to do when I get there
Do I need a car? I dont really plan on doing anything but the show.
Im only there for Friday and Saturday night and will leave Sunday Afternoon.
This will be the first time that I have ever been to a pinball show.
Quoted from Rat_Tomago:Everything you could possibly need food wise is either within walking distance or a very short Uber / Lyft ride away. You will be so busy playing pinball that anything else like food will be an afterthought. There is a huge mall with a food court in walkable distance. There are at least 20 or so places to eat that are within a mile walk. Again everything is extremely convenient.
WOW, thanks.
I didnt really want to work or have to do a lot of running around that weekend, just have fun.
Im taking my Wife, she was the one who suggested that we go and it looked like a great time!
Is there a shuttle from the airport? Taxi, Uber etc.?
What airport do I travel to?
Quoted from chadderack:If you decide to use a rental car, just know that DFW has very little visual information to help you find the rental shuttle pickup--nor does an iPhone (at this point). Go to an information kiosk and they should be able to help you when you reach the terminal to find your way to the shuttles that will take you to the rental counters (about 4 miles away). If you use Hertz, don't bother calling their DFW number--it's always busy and the voice mailbox is always full. (In fact, don't use Hertz... if my experience means anything).
Use your iPhone and tick "avoid tolls" in the maps app. It will guide you there (to the hotel in Frisco) in about 50 minutes (versus 35 via toll roads).
Thanks this is very helpful info!
Are you saying I have to rent a car to get to the hotel?
Im probably not going to use it other than transit from airport to hotel and back again. I can taxi or Uber anything I want to do in the limited time I will be in town.
I know that a Taxi from the airport is probably expensive for 2 trips ($75 x 2 = $150?) but is it more than a car rental?
Or is it just easier...
Or maybe Uber?
Quoted from chadderack:Rental car was cheaper for a decent car than taxi. Uber is probably super cheap, but I didn't explore the option--plus you'd save on any potential parking charges (parking was free for Hyatt guests at the Hyatt though). That said, if you want to go to Waffle House late at night (like me) you'll probably need a rental car (Totally unnecessary if you have a waffle fetish, though, because they have a very nice comped breakfast at both hotels... including some very nice made-to-order waffles in a self-serve buffet).
One of the hotel selling points was the free breakfast and the happy hour lol.
Im going to try and figure out the uber prices and not do a car this trip.
Quoted from txstargazer3:Why not call the hotel front desk and ask what an Uber to the airport costs? They must get this question all the time.
Great idea thanks!
Quoted from Spelunk71:An uber from the Hyatt to Love field cost me $25, including tip. Dallas Fort Worth is a bit further, I think, so would cost a bit more. The taxi from Love Field to the Hyatt cost more than double, though. To me, it was worth it to avoid the hassle of renting a car.
Sounds like Uber is the way to go, I also dont need the hassle of the rental car.
Quoted from rotordave:Hard Eight BBQ
Now yer talkin'
Ill definitely want to go there! 24oz Rib eye medium rare please!
Quoted from rotordave:Pretty cheap. The UBER app says $30 and that's still pretty cheap. Cheaper than a rental.
Lots of good eats within a 5-10 minute walk of the Embassy. All the usual suspects like Buffalo Wild Wings etc etc.
Places like Hard Eight BBQ were about a 5-10 minute drive away though.
rd
So Dallas Love field is where I want to arrive?
Quoted from Frax:DFW is 23 miles. Love Field is 21.4 miles. Honestly....it doesn't really matter. Pick whichever has a cheaper flight.
That is good advice thanks!
Quoted from rotordave:The 16oz was plenty big enough for me.

WOW Im hungry now!
I think you have to pace yourself and not eat any of the less healthy things like bread, lettuce etc.
Stick to the basic food groups i.e Beer, BBQ, Beer, more BBQ and then some wings...
Quoted from Mk1Mod0:pie to die fo
5 mins to pie? 10 mins to BBQ?
Free waffles and happy hour?
100's of games on free play ???
It sounds like Heaven
Quoted from beelzeboob:I just booked my tickets, so once word gets out, there should be a lot of rooms opening up at the hotel.
I booked my room awhile back at the event hotel.
Is it too early to book airfare?
What else should I book right now?
Quoted from Ed_in_Texas:Texas Wizards Tournament entries on sale now!

Quoted from pinnyheadhead:Hey need a review - best Airport to get up to Frisco from? Love or Fort Worth?
Thanks
Dallas Love field
Quoted from Pinball-is-great:Over 60 Pinsiders plan to be at TPF-2018.
However, PattyJ has not yet indicated if she plans to make it to TPF this coming March.
https://pinside.com/pinball/events/2018-texas-pinball-festival-2018
Hopefully she signs up and can make it this year..
She will get the party cranked up to 11..
Who's bringing some Shasta this year? Mk1mod0? Anyone?
The other question is:
Will Carl be attending? Will there be deli meat sandwiches with american cheese?
I think its time to post a list of must see or do for us newbies that havent attended before.
Where is the best place to pig out for dinner? or lunch?
What bar to go to? etc...
Quoted from InfiniteLives:https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/pinside-meet-and-greet-tpf
JJ usually makes a badge thread as well.
Awesome! thanks.
Im having difficulty trying to buy weekend passes on the TPF website.
It wont continue to any payment options? No credit card button appears, paypal link is broken.
How do I pay?
Quoted from Frax:*grits teeth*
Just got my schedule for March. Can't go any day but Sunday unless I get shift trades for that week...
Which is spring break. Really REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY wish the show would not coincide with the week that EVERYONE TAKES OFF. >=(
Im not a doctor but you might have a major illness coming on that requires you to be off for a couple days to rest.
Quoted from Nevus:May I suggest Louisiana?
It's really popular in Houston right now
Quoted from Pinballgoddess:Will there be a womens "get together" at TPF?
