Definitely coming for 2018. Would have been there this year, but paying for Alien in full and getting a CFTBL in one week was a wee bit hard on the "fun" money.
See you next year .

Just made my reservation with Hyatt.
Let them know you're there for the Texas Pinball Festival after you give them the dates (they'll ask if you're coming for a specific event).
$129 for a King with a fricking full kitchen and dishwasher ....a DISHWASHER in a hotel room? Geez.
$135 for a 2 bed room with kitchen.
Everything is REFUNDABLE up to 3pm the day before.
Hell with Embassy. That's some serious crap. I'll walk my happy ass right across the street and save $50 a night.
Won't be bringing any games, but I will be coming to my first TPF ever !!!!!
Bought our weekend passes, shirt, and coin. Plane tickets bought, hotel reserved - Game on in about 1 month! Cannot wait for this. The only bummer is after this, I hear it's "all downhill from here"...but what a ride!!!!
Quoted from packie1:First time for me as well. Should I pre-order tickets now or get them at the door? Will they turn folks away? Will the list of events be posted soon? What should I do first? So many questions!!!
Mike
Pre-order them. They won't send them in the mail; you'll be picking them up at the door. Difference is in the price - if you pay at the door it is more - I think like $10 per ticket.
http://texaspinball.com/tpf/pre-registration/pre-registration-open/
This is my first time as well. Order your tickets now, save money, and know you won't be turned away at the door (I don't think this happens, but why risk it?).
Get there as early as possible. Any "good deals" or "hard to find parts" will be there early, so it's a good idea to be there to snatch them up if that's your intentions. If not, heck, be there when the doors open, have the list of events ready so you know what is happening when and where, and enjoy the ride. I'm bringing my BSD and GoT Pro translites as each respective game designers will be there for autographs.
Quoted from SpookyKT:Maybe not the spot for this but I could use help. Bug ( our son) was restoring a Tales from the Crypt. He has the playfield stripped and ready to go.......then he pulled out the camera that all the playfield pics were on..... Squirrel(our daughter) had deleted all of them. Does anyone have any real good pics that they could share? It would be greatly appreciated.
You might have better luck starting a dedicated thread for an inquiry like this. Just a suggestion.
Quoted from MikeO:I'm surprised there is no Alien from a new owner either. No surprise that Heighway isn't attending.
Yeah, because no one wants to move one. Heaven forbid a part breaks, your machine is "not fully 100%" for a couple months right now....
Quoted from SunKing:I brought my Alien to the Houston Arcade Expo. I will also be bringing one to TPF, but it will not be on the floor, as I am exchanging it for an updated version.
So.................let me make sure I follow correctly:
No Alien is going to be on the floor.
Correct?
This is only the biggest pinball event in the country. Kind of a drag no Alien will be there. Doesn't really reflect well for the company, the dependability of the game, the prospect of actually picking one up, and watching the 4+ year pre-payers bailing out in the main thread is not exactly inspiring confidence all around.
Kudos to you for bringing it to the Expo, but playing an Alien seems more and more like getting a ride from a unicorn: it just isn't going to happen.
Then again, I live in an area where there is no public pinball to be played.... :/.
In 6 days, we are headed to Dallas to meet a lot of pinsiders, play some games, enjoy some great local food, buy all sorts of pinball shit ($$$$), and have a great time experiencing our first ever TPF!!!! I have told my future wifey to play any game she can, and let me know what she wants us to bring home next. I'm hoping for Scared Stiff or Houdini.
Also bringing lots of hand sanitizer. I know our community is known for the utmost highest standards in hygiene, but just in case.....
And because I can, an obligatory picture of my love enjoying our GOT Pro earlier this week : ).

Already picking up 3 ColorDMDs LED displays at this show. Eyeballing a PF from mirco as well that I plan to pick up while I'm there. Man, my wallet is going to hemmorhage ....
We're double checking our itineraries, getting our Ubers ready, got my black and silver Sharpies ready with 8 flyers and 2 translites to get signed. I was even able to find a 2 page advertisement of General Chaos from an OLD Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine for Brian Colin to sign.
Things for John Borg, Steve Ritchie, George Gomez, Barry Oursler, and more all to sign. Sorry if you end up behind me. Nothing personal : ).
Then there's playfields to buy, swag to snag, people to watch, Pinsiders to meet, and my future wifey is going to play as many different pinball games as possible.
Only 2 more days of work, and it's on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quoted from labnip:0 Days to TPF 2018 !!!
Today's the day to get set-up or help friends get set up safely.
Get some early insight into the excitement, trade rumors & hang out with "old" friends
If we want to help with setup, what do we do, where do we go, who do we talk to??
Quoted from NimblePin:This place is pretty solid...
I plan on eating RotorDave’s portion this time around...
Was just there.....!
Quoted from Nevus:Is the Cidercade gathering still on tonight?
What time? I may come. The future Mrs may be napping

And a couple personal ones for me:
Met Brian Colin who was the creator of the classic Sega game, General Chaos. Super-nice fella, great to talk to. He has a sequel to General Chaos in the works, and I bought some bad-ass GC action figures, which I'll take a picture of and post later! Got him to sign my General Chaos 2 page advertisement from an old Electronic Gaming Monthly - again - badass!!!
Next, I ran into our very own Robin !! Great down-to-earth guy. Bought a shirt or 3 cause I appreciate all he does for our community.
Next, ran into Bowen, and was very impressed with how humble he is when he speaks. I felt like a met a hero today, and I was totally not disappointed. Great meeting him, and I cannot wait to watch him rock TNA in his live tutorial!
Finally, I was blessed enough to meet Steve Ritchie and got to ask him about his thoughts on Pinball 2000 back in the day. He was very kind, and he signed all 4 of my flyers: Getaway, T3, ACDC Pro, and GOT Pro. Awesome!!!
20180316_220724 (resized).jpg20180316_220806 (resized).jpg
And then pictures of my better half rocking pinball because she really loves it, and doesn't just "pose for pictures". So great to share something this passionately with her!

Whoever is here on Saturday, we'll see you then!! Hoping to meet George Gomez, John Borg, Barry Oursler, Dennis Nordman, and run into Lyman if possible!
My wife is a packing extraordinaire!!! We did it!!20180318_114830 (resized).jpg
Quoted from MT45:Clothing = overrated
Pinball goodies = underrated
Nice to meet you guys at the show!
I like your train of thought ; ). Great to meet you too!! Always great to meet other awesome people in the hobby!
Quoted from Frax:Yep, I had multiple reports of that @ my first TPF with my Space Shuttle. Luckily it's a tank of a game.
I don't think we need multiple lines. I'd certainly like to see *no* space wasted on autographs at all. I get why they do it, but...the celeb stuff is just not my bag, and after my first TPF, I haven't waited in a line to get anything signed at all. I didn't even see this line...but from the way I've heard it described, it sounds like it was an attempt to have people walk straight through and go person to person instead of having multiple lines for multiple different signatures? THAT SAID...I think with one or two volunteers at the front monitoring who's busy at the tables and who isn't, and one say halfway down the line, and this could be easily resolved:
Person in back/middle (at a table) hands a maximum of two or three "tickets" for the SINGLE person they want to sign stuff. You want multiples? Great. Get back in line. You want 50 things signed by one person? Tough shit. I'd MAYBE make an exception for the paid celebs that are charging per signature, because that in and of itself is kind of a deterrent to that kind of behavior. Some asshat having 50 flyers signed to list on ebay? Go to hell, bro. If you somehow get to the front of the line and have tickets for separate people? Hope you have separate people waiting or you can make a single choice and go wait again.
The volunteers up at the front of the line will interact with the first few people in the line and see which tickets they have, and if that person is free and nobody else in front of them has that person? They go, and don't wait on other people waiting on different signatures. Pretty simple. The annoying part for TPF is finding 3 more volunteers for however long the "signature conga line" is up and running, and having to make the tickets. I suggest color coding, personally, which is more of a hassle, but makes it easier on the volunteers.
*Edit* And it's something I'd consider volunteering to do. It's really not that different from ticket taking/running a tournament line, IMO.
Man, I said "hell with this" and just went wherever I wanted up and down the autograph table after about 30 mins. If someone really did have 50+ items, that is so fricking selfish. You have THAT much stuff, the courteous thing to do is self-impose yourself going to the very back of the line. Total dick move.
Thankfully, I got all my items signed, but I did hear a big portion of the line gave up waiting. That's very unfortunate, and it's not right for someone to put themselves at the front of the line with more items than prolly the next 20 people behind them combined.
Love this "me me me me" generation.
Looks like it was this guy:
