Well...I think many people get there on Thursday already. Starting at like 6 or 7pm on Thursday might work out. Allow people to continue loading in Thursday night. Maybe don't sell 1 day passes for Thursday but Weekend/show pass only purchased can get in Thursday. And then open at 11 or noon on Friday. That would allow time for set up on Friday morning and not interrupt the show on Friday. Ending the show at 2 on Sunday is getting late for getting out of there with tear down and heading back to Houston in my case. Makes it a tough decision to bring a game or not. End the show earlier on Sunday like at noon or 1pm and call it a day.
I imagine there are plenty of local people bringing games that there will be plenty of games for a smaller Thursday crowd. Could also allow more time for tourney games to be set up and qualifying can start sooner.
If there just is not enough games or attendees to be there Thursday it does not make sense to open the show early. Really depends if it can be done without additional cost as well. TPF is reasonably priced. Don't want to see it get over priced. There was so much to do at this years show. Hard to do everything. But I think this was different with so many new games. Don't know if it will be this way next year.
Maybe it is just right where it needs to be and 3 days is plenty.
