Quoted from TigerLaw:

People will be going bonkers if a reservation they had for nine months get cancelled due to over booking. Hopefully they get it figured out.

I thought you had to prepay the first night of you got the TPF discount because of people not showing last year.
I booked three nights last April and had to prepay for Thursday. Should guarantee my room is hope.

#752 6 years ago

I'll purchase any TNA games you want to demo. No worries

#753 6 years ago

So my wife-to-be and I booked our tickets tonight. We have our room at the Hyatt from Thursday to Sunday - I booked it back in April 2017, and I checked it last week to make sure I'm not overbooked. We'll see you all in about 6 weeks !!!!

Only 36 more days left until TPF 2018 !!!
Make sure to get your tickets ASAP and come visit with TPF's biggest space cadet, Labnip !

We will be at Homewood suites Frisco.. any hints as to whether that is walking distance to Embassy ? Walking a mile or so isn’t a bother,.. otherwise we have a car. Is parking around Embassy easy, or a nightmare while the TPF is on ?

#756 6 years ago
Quoted from mrWol64:

Hmmm,.. sounds like Avis may have me sown up then.
Thx for the welcome back and update,... really looking forward to seeing how Dallas looks after such a long time.
TPF being in North Dallas means at least I won’t get lost,..

You know you can just take the service road almost the entire length of the DNT, right? If you can get to 635 and the DNT, you can take the service road all the way north to 121. No tolls needed, just deal with the lights. There's only partial service road south of 635. Traffic going north isn't usually all that bad, especially off peak driving hours.

Homewood suites has a free shuttle to and from the event for a certain time.

My wife and I will be hanging out Monday after the show, returning home Tuesday. Any suggestions as to what to do? She kind of wants to drive down to Waco.

I went to the 6'th floor book depository museum in Dallas a few years ago. That was pretty cool if you like history. I think you can book a reservation for a start time for the day you want to go. It can get pretty crowded so if you just show up you might not get in.

Shoot, they made me pay in full in advance. Good news is I forgot about that money being spent already so the show feels less expensive now

drive down to Waco.

.....WHY?! Serious question. Short of going to Czech Stop north of Waco, why in god's name does anyone that has a choice go to Waco if they don't have history there. I mean it's one thing to go down to New Braunfels and go tubing or to Schlitterbahn, or north up to the casinos in Oklahoma, but Waco is just a crap town. I've never found a single reason to stop there going to Austin other than it's the only place in Texas I know of that Fazoli's is in business.

He said wife so I'm betting she's a Fixer Upper fan and wants to visit the Magnolia store. Some people also go to see the Branch Davidian stuff.

Will be honest that their Zoo is pretty nice as well but I'm still not leaving Dallas for Waco...

Magnolia Farms, steak and full auto weapons at Uncle Teds house, Branch Davidian compound... What's not to like about Waco?

Thumbs up on this one. Great site.

I also watched that hulu show "11-23-63" a month or so before I went. Its a mini series based off a stephen king book about a guy who time travels to 1963 Dallas to try and stop the JFK assassination. The show had tons of details I didnt know before which made the museum visit even more interesting.

Anyone know if parking is supposed to be included in the room rate that TPF gets this year? I thought I remembered that it was included the last 2 years (when I WASN'T actually staying at the Embassy Suites), but there's no mention of it on my reservation. I think they stick you for $10/day if you are staying there as a "regular" guest...

Pretty sure you just answered your own question there, but then again, I've always been a "Native Outsider" when it comes to Texas. I couldn't care less about guns, profit-whoring from tv shows that I've never heard of, or kooks. But if interest in these things is how you guys want to define Texas (or even just Waco) as an interesting place to visit...um.....okay. What do I know, 36 years here so far and still don't fit in.

To each their own..

Quoted from Frax:

I've only been to TPF three times and I feel like I fit in fine... Texas is wonderfully welcoming so I'm sure you fit quite well. Thrilled to be coming again this year!

Does anyone know of a vendor that will be at TPF this year selling an LE AFMr? I may be interested in purchasing one. Would love to be able to pick it up at the show. (I sent Fun! an email and haven't heard from them yet. Oh well! Too many other vendors out there)

Drive to Milam TX and check out the Rufer Deep East Texas LLC Queen Bee operation.

I'd also say I'd highly recommend the Hard Eight BBQ. It's a must stop every time I'm in the area. https://hardeightbbq.com

Still remember the first time I went in 2015 and a women aksed if she could snap some photos of me playing a super nice Centaur that was there on freeplay. I said “sure why not?”

After she said she was a reporter for the Dallas paper and asked me what my name was and where I am from. I told her my name and that I was from Atlanta. She looked at me funny and said “you came all the way from Atlanta for this?!”. I looked at her funny back with a half smile and said “Why wouldn’t I come to this?! This is the best show in the country!” She smiled.

Glad to make it back for the forth year in a row. You TX pinheads are great hosts! Thank you in advance. Can’t wait!

Sharing a room with a friend @ the embassy suites.
He has let me know that there is a fold out sofa in the room as well.
If anyone wants to sleep on it we can split the room 3 ways. Ends up being $60 a night including taxes and all that jazz. Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. If you to do TPF on the cheap and want all 3 or just the Friday/Saturday let me know!

Just call Joe at PinballSTAR and ask for his best price. 570-357-0042
He can get your a AFMr LE lickety split. I just got my AFMr SE from Joe two weeks ago.

Tell Colin I sold my Metallica so if they need a backup game, they're going to have to find someone else.

Quoted from joeraptor2003:

Does anyone have an AFM they want hooked up with all of our PowerBladez, Translight and Backbox panels in exchange for leaving their game on display at our botth for the show duration?

Hey , I have one of those right here and EVERYONE knows I can easily be bribed. We should talk.

#798 6 years ago

Hey joeraptor2003 if you make PowerBladez for POTC (like my wife practically begged you to do at Chicago Expo) and came out to Golden State Pinball Festival with 'em, you could borrow our POTC for the whole weekend. Cuz, we too, are easily bribed Hmmm...I wonder if POTC and JJP's POTC would use similar sized side art. Cuz then you'd be making money hand over fist on these things, you could maybe even retire early and buy a yacht or something. Cuz pirates sell!

Anyhow, back to Texas.. How many days till TPF? I'm getting antsy over here...
