If the donkey falls through and you need a jackass to replace him, I'm available.
Quoted from Nevus:There is plenty to do at the show. If you don't get your fill of pinball, them go to Nickelrama. There is a pizza place next door to it.
However, there are literally hundreds of fun things to do in DFW on Sunday before you fly back. Why not enjoy the area instead?

Big history fan so I have been to the Dallas area a few times for Dealey plaza and the stockyards. How about best strip steak close to the event? Tried Bob's Chop house a few years ago.

Define close.
If you have time, I recommend a trip to the Fort Worth Stockyards. Enjoy a great steak at your choice of locations.
Personally, if you like to try some more exotic meats, give Lonesome Dove Fort Worth some considerations. http://lonesomedovefortworth.com/
Closer to the Embassy Suites, there is a Perry's steak house across from the hotel. For a good steak at a cheaper price, there is Texas Land & Cattle on Preston.
If you want some Brazilian Steakhouse fare, there is one in front of the Stonebriar Mall.

Steaks? I had one of the best steaks of my life 2 years ago while attending TPF. Where? In the hotel restaurant believe it or not. Cooked to perfection and I savored every bite. Whenever I think about that steak my mouth drools a little in the corners.
You can bet your Woz Im going back for another. Thursday night -steak done right. SB
The list of games is starting to fill out:

I haven't decided what pin I will bring yet. RBION? DW? Flash?
If any of you attending TPF are needing some plating projects completed before and picked up at the show lets start planning it now. Some of these projects can take 6 weeks or so and we are getting closer and closer. Also, for you guys wanting to do exchanges for wireforms or shooter guns you need to start reserving pretty soon. I usually do not carry lots of stuff to sell, so if you are wanting WMS/Stern chrome or brass armor then let me know soon and I can get all packed up, so you can pick up at the show. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Damn! Awesome news, I'm going to start making a list of rubbers I need. I may end up buying a bit of extras to play around with the different colors.

Now... what's the most efficient way to 'mess with Texas'?
So, where would 5 hungry kiwis find the best BBQ food in Dallas/Ft Worth?

Hard Eight gets talked up a lot. Never been, but the tin-roofed smoke-billowing exterior of the building certainly looks the business.
Quoted from NicoVolta:Hard Eight gets talked up a lot. Never been, but the tin-roofed smoke-billowing exterior of the building certainly looks the business.
Hard Eight is very good authentic Texas BBQ.
I'm partial to Feedstore in Southlake but while I think it is better it isn't drive 30 miles farther better.

Bring em all on!
I will be in Texas for 3 weeks. Going from the top to the bottom. Back to Amarillo for some more Texas Steak Ranch!
As far as BBQ, I like juicy! Juicy is good! Dry, not so ..
Thanks for the suggestions!

One thing that I can only find in Texas is beef ribs. Cut off every other bone so the meat is super thick on both sides of the bone. If you have the chance it should be on your list.

not to worry... if it ever says "a little rain", it means drizzle for 30 minutes at some random point during day or night.
plus, it's tejas, the weather changes every hour here, and this forecast is 2 months out. Just the temp is the useful part.

Do yourself a favor and make it down to Pecan Lodge in the Deep Ellum area which is just east of down town. It is worth the drive from up north if you have some time so spare. Another in incredible place is CattleAck BBQ. Not quite as far of a drive if you are heading down from Frisco area.

If you get a chance, take a drive west of DFW and check out Mary's Cafe in Strawn, TX.
The best chicken fried steak in all of Texas IMO.

Here is a question - how does the toll highway system deal with out of state drivers? When I attended TPF two years ago I cruised right down the Dallas North Tollway all the way to the hotel but on the way out I took the outer road. I half expected something to show up in the mail but it never did. My luck I have a warrant out. Seriously though, I would like to be educated this time around. Anyone local care to explain how it works? I suppose I could google it. Nah, too lazy.
