Cool idea, I love it! I can't wait for TPF, I look forward to the show all year.

    #552 8 years ago
    Quoted from Ed_in_Texas:

Actually, if Steve (or whoever your opponent is) wins, you get one of these and you have to wear it the rest of the show

    image_(resized).jpeg

    There you go.

    #553 8 years ago

Sorry if this has already been answered, but anyone bringing a Cirqus Voltaire, Monster Bash, or Tales of The Arabian Nights to play? I know it's still a few weeks away but don't seen any of these listed on the pinball listed lineup on the TPF site.

Also looking to buy a Whirlwind or Johnny Mnemonic if anyone has either of those for sale during that weekend.

Just announced: We'll be unveiling 4 new games for the P3 at our seminar at noon on Saturday (19th). If you'll be attending only one seminar at TPF, make sure it's the Multimorphic one!

    Quoted from Ed_in_Texas:

Announcing the 2016 Texas Pinball Festival Celebrity Smackdown! Throughout the weekend, several of our special guests such as Mark Ritchie, Jack Danger, Charlie Emery, Steve Ritchie, and others will be out on the game room floor looking for an unsuspecting opponent to go head-to-head in a one game match on a machine of their choosing! Beat them, and win what is surely to be the most talked about prize at TPF... a 24 carat gold plastic trophy signed by your challenger! It's on!

    hmmmm
    are those numbered plaques?
    can we request a number?

need to see that gold color in person first...

The Whirlwind in the tournament area will be available to purchase.

So is there no "Fun" auction this year? I don't see it on the schedule.

    Quoted from ita47:

Don't think there is. Saw mention somewhere that they didn't have a large enough consignment client to make it work this year.

I heard it would be more mustard colored in person. People will debate it until the end of time (or they get thread ejected).

I would like to see video on if the under the right ramp shot is back hand-able. I need to know if I should be practicing my Shatzing... Just tell me the answer though as I need some sort of advantage in the tournament

    #563 8 years ago
    Quoted from metahugh:

    I just registered my Volley!

You won't regret it. The EM guys are the nicest bunch of people that I've met in the hobby, frankly. You can likely expect there to be no less than 3 or 4 guys that love EMs, and know their crap, to be hanging around. If it wasn't for a few guys fixing Crescendo last year, it probably would not have been playable, because my EM skills are severely crap. Repainting a playfield, doing the swap, rebuilding reels.....all that, I can do. Tracking down and actual issue in an EM circuit. No way, bro.

    #565 8 years ago

    Oh snap !

I'm gunna kick all your bootays

Actually, the one in the tourney area isn't for sale. Mine won't be in the tourney area it will be on the floor.

I'm looking forward to it getting played! I am also looking forward to getting it running correctly, the game hasn't really worked right since I brought it home.

This weekend's plans: Troubleshooting issues, new line cord installation, flipper and chime rebuild kit installation + more.

Only 9 days until TPF pre-registration ends! If you haven't registered to bring a game or purchase a discounted weekend pass, time is running out! We still need more pinball machines if we are going to take back the World Record for "Most People Playing Pinball Simultaneously". There are also Texas Wizards Tournament entries still available.
Now of course we'll still accept games up until show time, but after the 7th, we can't guarantee all the incentives like the special Exhibitor coin or printed Exhibitor badge since those are ordered ahead of time.

I see that pinball etiquette 101 has been posted by TPF on their website and/or Facebook pg. Thank you for doing that.

Let's not be timid and afraid to politely let some jerk know when others have been waiting their turn to play a machine.
Remember, be nice. Just like in Roadhouse.

Cool - my new Square reader arrived in the mail today! That means I will be able to process chip credit cards, Apple Pay, and Android Pay in my vendor booth.

Feel free to pack an air horn up your sleeve in case some doofus does:

    1) Multiplayer... for one.

    2) Plays consecutive games with people waiting.

OR, a variant on #2... my personal favorite...

    3) The "FAKE CHECK". Game over, does a pseudo-half-turn behind him to check for waiting people, pretends not to see them, hits start button for another game.

I see any of dis, !!!!AIR HORN!!!!

"Oops... sorry... did I do that? Didn't notice you standing there...." :p

    #583 8 years ago

    AIR Horn, hum no...
However, I can promises you .... if I see ANYONE doing any of these 3 things on my machines; they escorted off the machine via a power switch.
If you play one of my machines; I EXPECT you to be attendee friendly. My Machines - My rules.

I see this ALL THE TIME at shows. What is the proper way to address this without causing a scene? My assumption is that the person is new to these types of events so I generally just stand there and wait or ask them to press start again for a 2 player game. I've had a couple people say no to that request in the past. I don't want to nark people out or cause a scene so am curious what the proper protocol is for this.

Please, no keyboard commando responses to this. Actually what you do, not what you would like to do, if you catch my drift. For instance, I'd personally love to just go off on someone that is that inconsiderate but causing a scene in that environment for something so petty seems silly.

Granted if they proceed to do it again even I do speak up and tell them the rules of the show which has generally started a pissing contest

    #587 8 years ago

I think Exhibitors have the greatest potential to help here, especially if we are identified with designated shirts/buttons. Last year, I foiled a few offenders by stepping in at the offending moment and saying, "Excuse me, I need to look at this machine."

Turned it off, did a fake inspection, etc. Worked for that moment, but it didn't cure his behavior next time. Perhaps if the back of the shirt itself had a reminder printed on it while the "inspection" was being done? So, you know, clue stick right in the face?

Here is how I handle situations where someone is hogging a machine.

"Hi. There is a line behind you. We are all waiting to play the game too. Once your game is done, please allow the next person to take a turn. Thanks!"

Spoken in a calm, friendly manner.

This has worked 99.9% of the time. Luckily, I have not met any real jerks who have ignored the statement. The one time someone ignored the suggestion, peer pressure from other show guests changed his tune.

What's the best thing to say if someone just walked up and clicked up a 4p game for himself?

    #590 8 years ago

    "Sweet! Do you want 1 & 3 or 2 & 4?"

    #591 8 years ago

Just cancelled my reservation at Embassy Suites for Fri-Sun so someone jump on it! With Easter early this year TPF is now falling on our kids spring break.

    Quoted from NicoVolta:

I think the best thing is to ask to play Player 2,3, or 4 (depending on the size of your waiting group).

If they resist, then step back and let them finish the 4 player game. But let them know that starting 4 player without 4 players is frowned upon at a show.

Once the 4 player game is done, step in to take your turn.

Dang, I must have just missed it! Sorry you can’t make it!

I was told that rooms can be transferred though, so If anyone else is thinking of canceling please let me know. It would be a big help if I could stay at a pet friendly hotel. Thanks!

I dunno... modern games usually take while to finish. Imagine a 4p game of LOTR. It would take up an entire afternoon!

If someone is already a few games deep into a single-player 4p when I come across them... I'll wait. But if I see them do it right then and there in front of me, especially with people waiting, I'll step in. It's not allowed.
