Unfortunately still working this morning!
Thanks for helping me load machines yesterday, see you tomorrow.
You guys getting there today are making me jealous - I just checked in for tomorrow's Southwest flight to Love Field... in group B for their cattle-call boarding method.

Travelers going north from Austin/San Antonio.
Just saw on the news a bridge collapsed onto I-35 in Salado. Highway is at a stand still for obvious reasons. Not sure of a way around that area but sounds like you'll want to avoid that area.
Looks like a beam fell on some cars. I'm praying nobody (pinball or otherwise) was hurt in this

Anyone driving Austin to Dallas today watch the news/traffic. A bridge collapse in Salado is blocking I-35:
Edit: 2 seconds slow

Quoted from thearcadegeek:If anyone is bringing a HUO Stern Star Trek, PM me. I live in Frisco and am in the market.
Also, I'm going to be looking for LOTR mods if anyone has them.
and by "HUO Stern Star Trek"... you mean "labnip's Theatre of Magic", right?
Anyone else sitting at home, waffling with the decision to throw logic out the window, and booking a last minute TPF weekend?

hotel arrangement may be biggest issue. just have to find something near it.
Quoted from labnip:hotel arrangement may be biggest issue. just have to find something near it.
That part isn't the issue … Holiday Inn Express is good price/not far… Work Monday, Extra expense, Kid arrangements are more the hanging doubt.
OK, agonizing is over, we're being reckless. Real life be damned. We're going to TPF! Woohoo!! (I'll worry about Monday later!).

Atta boy. You won't regret it!!
Quoted from Jared:Someone needs to bring a drone in there for a high pic (with eds permission of course)
Lol I have a cheap one. But I'm not sure I trust my self to fly it in that room. Nor do I have the space to bring it.

Pretty sure Pinball is real life. If it's not I'd prefer to keep dreaming.

Hotel I'm in (Home2 Suites) has rooms for $139 per night both Fri. and Sat. It is a one-block walk to the show.

Just bought a Go-Pro at the airport so I can get vids of the whole thing, relive it home, show my wife why I had to fly over, and make the local jealous!
I'm not sure how I missed the " festival actually starts Friday morning" memo, but I did. The website and all emails clearly state doors open at 5 pm. The tourney information posted a few weeks ago says 11 am. Still too late for me to act on. A friend told me today you can get in as soon as registration opens at 8. I've been to the tpf before and we got tickets and rooms for this year back in October. Very excited!
The organizers do a great job but the actual event times should be clearly stated. Now I feel like I'm missing the first eight hours and the best time to qualify because I wasn't included in the secret in-the-know group. Yes, my wife and I are both planning to enter the tourneys.

So everything is set up and ready to roll by Thursday night?
It doesn't open to general public until 5 I am pretty sure. At least that is the way it was last year. You could go in and play in the tourney but that was it.
yep.
set-up is thursday & friday until it opens to public later in day.
tournament pins open to tournament people on friday (in that area).
think they try to keep the main area clean of most traffic on friday so folks can continue to get set-up, work on issues, etc.
i've got a pin there, but will be doing setup on friday around 1pm-ish.
think there's others like that.
It is not open to the public until 5 we are leaving little rock at 7:30ish tomorrow with my machine. Hoping to get there around lunch time.
Setup will be on going and there may be a few games being played but that will mostly be setup and tuning
Nellie looked better than I thought it wood - I see where the money was spent. The game was fun to play. I love 2" flipper games and having them with solid state snappiness was really cool.
That collapse in Temple SUCCCCKEEEED... My best laid plans to get here by 4pm was dashed due to the 478 to 95 detour I had to take.
However, My star trek booth is about 1/3" ready and not major shifting occurred. Sleep, Breakfast, and then the machines go on legs.
Thanks again for what I know will be an awesome weekend.
Nellie looks superb. Great art, great cabinet, callouts and music/FX were fun. Also, gotta love the crushed can levelers... nice little detail. Never would have thought of that one.
Main nitpick for me is the lack of a real bell. Digitized bell sound isn't pleasant to my ears. Hopefully they designed it so that a real bell mech can be substituted without too much trouble.
Quoted from Quiddity:I'm with you, Nick. The digital chime killed it for me.
.
does it sound like one of the Kraftwerk guys saying "Bing..." ?
I have nothing nice to say about the game play on Whoa Nellie unfortunately. I will give it more games this weekend.

maybe drink before playing ?
Quoted from Stones:Fly out tomorrow! Booze, cigars, and pinball for the next 48 hours!
cool. let's connect up some time. i'll be at the cigar thang @ 10p on Friday.
