We're a month away from... Pinball at the Zoo in Kalamazoo, Michigan

From Kevin Ketchum, here is the press release:

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Pinball at the ‘Zoo shoots off April 24-26

Tournaments; auction; free-play; buy and sell

    Kalamazoo, MI -

Think you’re a pinball wizard? You can show your stuff at the 15th annual Pinball at the ‘Zoo April 24- 26 at the Kalamazoo County Expo Center.

This family-friendly event features multiple pinball tournaments, lots of free-play pinball machines, and a variety of vendors with pinball machines and parts for sale.

Pinball at the `Zoo is open
    2 to 10 p.m. Thursday, April 24;
    1 to 10 p.m. Friday, April 25;
    and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 26.

    The collector’s auction begins 3 p.m. Saturday, April 26.

General admission per day is $12 for adults; $6 for children ages 5 to 13; free for kids 4 and younger. People who bring a pinball machine for tournament or for free play throughout the event will receive free admission.

“Anyone who enjoys playing pinball and meeting other players and vendors will love this,” Klassic Arcade owner Kevin Ketchum said. “With so many different vendors in attendance, the chances of finding a great machine or needed part have never been better. And kids — well, it goes without saying that they’ll have fun!”

The event is sponsored by Klassic Arcade of Gobles. Ketchum opened Klassic Arcade in January of 2004 with more than 65 arcade and pinball games. The arcade offers people the opportunity to revisit original videogame classics, including Pac Man, Ms. Pacman, Donkey Kong, Galaga, Tempest, Frogger, Defender, Dig Dug, Centipede, Asteroids, and more.

For more visitor or vendor information, visit www.pinballattthezoo.com or e-mail [email protected].

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Please use this thread for selling, want-to-buy, and all other PATZ chatter for the good of the show! The show is now three days instead of two so there will be more time to set up, mingle and play!

Would someone take a Pic. of my favorite pinball Player if he's there . He's mid 20's, wears the finger less gloves , maybe a fanny pack . Plays in the tournaments and in down times hones his skills on the other games . Has some of the most entertaining moves I've ever seen a player make . Jim Carry would have a hard time playing him in a movie about pinball .

Is the Space Shuttle for sale?

    #14 9 years ago

    Thanks for the pics!

Looking forward to seeing you all there today!

    #15 9 years ago

Thanks for the pics! Can't wait to go tomorrow. Looks like some nice machines for sale too.

I spy a High Speed playfield in Starship Fantasy's booth as well as the highly-coveted Fathom playfield in Dayhuff's booth. I'd imagine that HS is gone already.

    #17 9 years ago

Some of those pins must have sold because I was there a lot yesterday and several of the pins were gone and others are moved

    #18 9 years ago

I'll take another round of pics tonight at 8pm of anything new. I'll be blending in with all those wearing their PATZ 2014 green shirts today!

    Quoted from robotron911:

Only pin I seen go back out the door was a T2 that sold. I don't think anything else was sold. I was there all day. So all those games should still be set up on free play.

If anyone from Milwaukee sees this and is going, I've unsuccessfully tried contacting a couple people I know who usually go...

I'm interested in the Tommy playfield if it is still there with the parts on it from the seller who was posting other playfields (There is a picture with the Robocop playfield) a few days ago. PM me and if you don't mind bringing it to Milwaukee, I'd really appreciate it.

If not, I'll survive, but would love to get it...

Looks fun. Really wish I could make it. It's been too long since I was last at PATZ!

And here are some more pics...

    WP_20140425_052_1600x901.jpgWP_20140425_052_1600x901.jpg

This is our entire group of event-shirt-wearing folks, posing with Ryan...the guy that designed it. He's trying to get his son to look a the camera, which is why he looks goofy. I look good, which is all that matters...so the picture goes up.

    WP_20140425_039_1600x901.jpgWP_20140425_039_1600x901.jpg

Here's Ryan playing Cyclopes. That poor girl on the cabinet looks terrified of him.

    WP_20140425_068_676x1200.jpgWP_20140425_068_676x1200.jpg

Here I am being manly and defeating the top level in the arm wrestling game. Not pictured is me whining about how much my arm hurt for the next hour.

    WP_20140425_065_1600x901.jpgWP_20140425_065_1600x901.jpg

    WP_20140425_057_1600x901.jpgWP_20140425_057_1600x901.jpg

All in all, the show is a LOT of fun, and I get to hang out with everyone. So very cool....

    Pete

Auction pics. THERE WERE SOME AMAZING DEALS. I wish I had more than my slender wallet since there were some great deals.

    Big thanks too:

Kevin Ketchum - the man with plan

John Dayhuff - running a great auction and PATZ-pre party

Vendors - without you we can't do this!

Grand Rapids Pinball League - 12 pinball machines! AMAZING!

Hobbyists who hauled their game to the show - thank you, thank you, thank you - without you there IS NO SHOW!

ALL THOSE who ran tournaments, helped behind the scenes, brought items to the auction, helped promote the show and...

Thank you for coming or are making plans on coming next year!

Now get some much needed rest. Good night!

    #29 9 years ago

Great show as always. I had a great time, met a few new pinheads, and spent more money than I should have.

Thanks Kevin! Thanks John D! GRPL... above and beyond!

Terry (Pinball Life) is the F'ing man. Know this.

    #30 9 years ago

My favorite there was Bus Stop. Big thank you to whoever brought that gem.

    #31 9 years ago

I actually enjoyed playing Super Orbit and Meteor more than I thought I would.

Finally got to play WoZ and all I can say is WOW! I'm not big on the theme but it was a really cool game. That color changing light show on the playfield was awesome.

    #32 9 years ago

    Such a fun show...

I look forward to it every year...

Thanks to all who brought games, and helped make the show awesome! Great variety!

    Oh, lord...no.

That was, like, attempt 6. My arm was done at that point.

While I had beat the Robo-Badass at the end several times over the weekend....I think your video has me going to a draw...and a near stroke.

I'm still sore today. It's tough being elderly..

If this post had a soundtrack it would be the teacher from the Peanuts cartoon.

    "Waahh-wah-waah waaah. WAAaaaahh..."

    Love you, man.

It was a great show, I always make the two hour journey. Well worth it, maybe enough interest for a Spring and Fall show?

    #42 9 years ago

In fall there's the Pinball Pyramid at Pyramid Scheme in Grand Rapids, MI - 50 + games, all the A-titles in great playing condition, tournament, great people. This year it will be on Sept. 13th & 14th. Flat cover with all the games set to free play. No vendors involved so far so a bit different than PATZ in that regard, but always a blast!

Sounds like a cool event. Thanks for the heads up. Love the title of the place. Very appropriate for that city huh?

I think it takes a year to replenish the energy needed to put on PATZ! Apart from the Pyramid Scheme, I would also look to EXPO in Chicago and Dayhuff's Pinball Party (in SE Battle Creek) in late Fall. Don't hold me to this, but I think John's party is usually the first Sunday in November or close to there.

Fair enough, I know it must be a lot of work. As someone who just gets to come and enjoy the show without having to set up or clean up it isn't fair I suppose. But its a great show and I thank you!!

I would burn out quick setting up two or three machines a year like that. Imagine poor Dayhuff lugging all that gear to the Expo every four months I don't envy you John!!

ACK! I said SUNDAY, but I mean SATURDAY in November. Sheesh. That's a typo.
