    Quoted from Lovef2k:

I can't take the taxes here anymore. Can somebody please recommend any nice areas in DE close to the Del Mem Br. Something within 10 minutes from the bridge give or take,
    Thanks!

Move to L.A. Then you'll see what real taxes look like. Highest damn taxes in the nation. On a positive note, it helps keep the riff raff out.
You know, those Texas and Florida people.

    Quoted from Yoski:

You might want to look outside of the NE. Florida has 0% income tax, about 7% sales tax and in Miami-Dade we pay about 2.5% property tax. I pay $3.5K which includes garbage pick up. Not a bad deal overall.
We got the "Save our Homes" law which sort of locks your assessment in when you buy your house. The assessment can only go up by 3% or the rate of inflation, whichever is LOWER.

If you live in Florida, they should pay you.

    Quoted from o-din:

Glad I live in Ca. where the annual property tax on my 1470 Sq. ft. home remains at under $1000 a year.
Although sales tax is near 8%, that doesn't stop me from ordering things from out of state.

Prop 13 is your friend if you bought your house a long time ago. Of course your savings is at the expense of more recent home buyers such as myself. You're welcome.

Edit: sales tax in L.A. Is about to go up over 10%.

A commute of only 15 minutes a day vs 45 minutes is easily worth an extra couple grand IMHO.
