To me McD’s is a good temporary position for folks starting out or transitioning. It’s a little better now with the higher pay. Temporary or long term is usually up to the worker. I mean Bezos worked for McD’s, so anyone can do anything if they want to I guess??

Ran the quick bar napkin numbers and looks like McD’s corporate makes $197,000 profit per restaurant. The Franchise owner makes around $150k. The number might be a little low but bar napkin says 25 today workers at one franchise. 2080 hours worked a year times 25 employees is around 50,000 hours. If we went crazy and said McD’s and owners don’t make a dime $350,000 divided by 50,000 is $7 an hour “more” all the employees could make without losing money. This didn’t include extra cost for social security Medicare and workman’s comp etc.. It also didn’t factor in that McD’s has invested billions in the land and structures and product development through out the decades. McD’s also currently owes $38 billion in debt. And franchise owners must pay $1-2 million to own a franchise. Also sometimes companies have to eat losses like the Billion plus McD’s will eat it they close the Russian business. All the risk is on the owners.
So the let’s get crazy and max it out pay “because Mcds makes a lot of money and can afford it!” looks be $7 more an hour. That along with $15 could pay an amount close to a living wage, whatever that is. Sure. But in reality I wouldn’t own a McD’s and make no money and neither would you. Now they could charge more for product and pay more and they already have. Maybe this is contributing to inflation?
Now folks remember working there for a lot less sure. It is what it is BUT! we will see how it works with the rising wages and state minimum wages and how they work out in the future. We really don’t know yet. Balancing higher wages with inflation which hurts lower income folks the most is a slippery slope. Once again will see how it plays out.
On judging folks by their wage? I don’t think so. Folks don’t like folks who don’t give F and/or do a poor job whether they make $15 an hour or $1500 an hour especially when they just got a raise. I wouldn’t defend workers who sip someone’s coffee before they hand it to a customer because it’s BS just like I wouldn’t defend ass hats like the heads of ATT who did a shitty job of ruining the company and somehow made tens of millions doing it! I really don’t think this is a lack of respect for folks working at McD’s. Also folks are paying more for the product. You know how it works - you pay more you expect more.
Personally I respect all folks who work hard and do a good job doing whatever they do making whatever they make. I hope the higher wages stay up and things go smoothly.
