Proper temp is so important.. when fresh and hot they flake like actual fish fillets and have good texture & a steamed fresh bun for the win too! Mmmm , Damn this thread! Might need to get banned from here!
I jumped on the FOF bandwagon today and ordered one for lunch. Surprisingly good. Good flakey fish (with no weird dark pieces mixed in), a crispy exterior, decent amount of tartar sauce and that glorious steamed bun. 
Anyone remember the reboot version they tried out in the mid 90's (which had lettuce and weirdly dense bun)? I think they were going for a more upscale image and it coincided with the god awful ARCH DELUXE sandwich.

I was just thinking that. The other day I watched the person make my sandwich and they used a whole slice when they opened the fresh block of cheese.

Save it for the next FOF. In McDonald's inventory a FOF is .5 slice of cheese, cheeseburger 1.0, Quarter Pounder 2.0 etc. They keep track of napkins per customer and even ketchup packets to french fry sales.

Makes sense.
However, there are usually instances where no FOF's are ordered for several hours. Cheese slices that have been kept out begin to form a distasteful discoloration/hardening around the edges.
I hope they have a rule to discard unused half slices after so many hours.

Anyone ever order a Double FOF? Would you get two half slices of cheese? I might try to order one on my next lunch outing.
Just ordered my modded FoF. Sandwich only. ($6.18 CAD)
Only lettuce, cheese, onions, mayo and ketchup.
Got it and it looked near perfect. Nice and fresh too.
Took a bite and noticed the ketchup was missing. Like they almost went out of their way to make sure it wasn't put on.
I can only surmise that some of you in this thread are somehow involved in this Tom Foolery.
