On my TriZone with a rottendog MPU, im having an issue where all the switches on a single lead (green wire, yellow tracer, all the left side playfield switches)

When any of the switches in that column, it also "hits" every switch in the respective row.

IE.. outlane switch when activated also activates the coin drop switch, spinner scores and resets game. inlane switch also causes the drop targets to reset. the Z drop activates the other coin drop. the sling score switch also activates the tilt.

Did further checking, getting continuity to ground through the green/yellow wire. pulled the connector at the board, to check wire end to pf. nothing. check for ground at terminal, bingo.

Anyone have a schematic for a Rottendog MPU 326 board?

Thanks!

Welcome to the wacky world of the switch matrix.
From Black Knight manual:
Shorted diodes (or an incorrectly wired switch) can cause "rectangle" switch matrix problems as follows: The lower left 3-bank upper target is down (switch 27), and lower right 3-bank center target is down (switch 30). A ball enters the lockup trough making switch 43, a shorted diode at switch 27 would cause switch 46 Playfield Tilt to be (incorrectly) indicated. Note that the "rectangle" is always completed with an incorrect switch diagonally opposite from the switch with the shorted diode.

Stuck closed switches can also confuse the matrix.

Hmm. Thanks for the info. I'll check it tonight.

Thinking it could be a diode issue, since all of my trouble switches share the same column.

did you remove and or replace any switches? sounds like a diode is shorting or missing.

The sling score switch wasn't making contact. Found the switch loose due to the screw holes stripped out. Did the toothpick trick and after that had the issue.

More than likely I goofed something up :/

Well if you un soldered leads and then have an issue yeah diode on backwards or just bent and shorting.

No leads unsoldered. Joints checked ok, and diode is good. (Checked with meter)

Going to try and contact rottendog to see if he has any schematics available.

I did notice that the two sling scoring switches are wired different. One has the diode going from the green wire to the 3rd terminal, the other from the white trace to 3rd terminal

Quoted from Slim64:

One has the diode going from the green wire to the 3rd terminal

That one is wrong. Should be from white wire, banded end of diode to 3rd terminal.
Make sure green wires go to one of the switch blades, white wires & non-banded end of diode to solder tab, banded end of diode to other blade.

Awesome! thank you. Ill give that a go and see if it corrects the issue.

Problem solved.

The green/yellow circuit wire pin on the IC was shorting to ground. Ordered up and installed a new IC, all is good.

Thanks again to MWsmith for pulling up the matrix diagram!
