Started these today and ordered more stock to complete the rails on the list. DH, Magic and Radical are incoming. Once I get these milled, drilled and sanded I am into finishing these and will not be starting any new sets until these are done and out the door.

Due to weather, humidity to be exact, rails will be taking longer to finish. Will do my best to accommodate orders but between now and August everything is on a crawl. Thanks for the business this past fall and winter.

This is my trick for shipping 3+ rails. You can order free triangular “tubes” and have them delivered to your day and piggy back them like this to ship as one package. Probably saves most customers $10-$15 dollars on shipping .

Here’s the skinny on my summer. I’m out of the shop as of next week until July. May be able to get in the shop a little in July and then traveling again in August.
I already have a queue started but the reality is that unless I’ve said your rails are in the works they aren’t and I probably won’t be getting to them until maybe July(no promises.)

Damn it is too hot.
That said these have all been sanded. That means each piece has been sanded on all sides with a random orbital sander and then all edges are softened by hand sanding. Tomorrow I’ll scrape out all slots and then this batch will be ready to be finished.

I can make them but only have a few to use as a template. They often get returned to the customer. They are a bit of PITA and take some time to finish as I wet sand between coats to get the nicest finish I can get. First batch, excepting Fathom as they are getting dyed, in the finishing stages. Sets finished in black have 3 coats, red has had 4 coats and was sanded after the 3rd. Will let these set the rest of the day and then hope to get finals coats on tomorrow.
To be totally honest, this should have been broken up into 2 batches. 10 sets at a time is manageable, with this many sets it’s tough to stay organized and eats up time. After finishing these two large batches I probably will max a batch out at 10.

The batch I just finished is sitting prior to shipping. I will be contacting people to get shipping info.
Fathom rails have now been dyed and will be getting clear lacquer as soon as humidity allows.
Next batch has had all holes marked for drilling including a Black Knight which is now in the inventory.

This week kind of sucked for rails, the heat was brutal and humidity and some personal obligations kept me out of the shop. That said I did mange to get several coats of lacquer applied to the current batch. Weather is looking like it's finally turning fall which will help out with the rail making business. Next batch is already full with 10 sets in the wings. Hope to get this current batch out of finish and into milling next batch next week. Have a great weekend. Cheers.

I feel like I charge a fair price and my adjustments are solely on typical increases in material and shipping cost. That is one reason I went to straight shipping cost as that way I never boned myself as I’ve done in the past. I would just guess shipping cost before and lost my shirt on a couple orders.

BSD, Magic and another set of Joker Poker made it into the next batch. Everything is milled and hole locations transferred.

Post holiday sick kid has had me sidelined this week, but I have a bunch of rails wrapped for shipping and will be contacting people starting tonight. I have had several orders come in and I will be starting those tomorrow. Despite not taking new orders they keep coming and I already 10 deep in my queue, thanks. I will NOT, seriously, be taking on new orders until these are finished. I’m swamped and with the holidays and some travel next week I’m up to my eyeballs.

I have had issues in the past where some paper stuck to the rails. There doesn’t seem to be a reason for when it does. Someone suggested it could be the porousness of the paper I used. I did some research on shipping lacquered boxes and wax paper was suggested.

I have gotten a few sets ready for finish. As winter is quickly approaching the work on rails slows so please understand that when ordering. I work when I can, but just can't provide as quick of a turnaround as I would like. Just keep that in mind when ordering.

Sorry I haven’t been updating but been busy in the shop. Every rail order will hopefully have final coats over the next three days. I will allow these to sit to cure prior to shipping. Will get them to everyone as fast as I can, but there is a process and it takes time. Thanks everyone for your patience and business.

All rails in black were shot with final coats today. The red, white and clear take more time so they are taking more time, but really close.
I have a couple orders that have come in but am taking a little break as I have some personal projects I need to work on. Probably be off from January-February except for those that I have already spoken to.

I’m trying to get orders out as quickly as I can, but I’m waiting on some shipping supplies that were delayed for some unknown reason. Hoping to have everything out this weeks sans a couple clear sets. The cold caught up to me and the windows spraying lacquer are small. Not trying to create excuses, just my reality.
I know I’m behind and really trying to get rails out as quickly as I can. Everything has been wrapped and packed now and will be shipping shortly. As always, if you no longer need or desire the rails I completely understand and is why I don’t take money up front. I’m aware that collections and time are fluid and I don’t always hit the mark.
This is something I need to think about before going forward with making rails. I’ve been at it for 14 years now and the ability to keep up with demand had gotten more challenging. It has been an honor to be a part of so many of your projects, but I think I need to scale back the workload. Over the next month I will do my best to figure out how to do that. Cheers-Taylor

Pretty much. The way my basement is laid out number 11 makes it a squeeze to get by when someone is playing but all the glass can be removed so it works. I do have an EM Soccer Game that I could swap out with a couple pins, but it’s a family favorite.

yancy first, let me say thanks for the kind words. I know I said it before, but it truly is humbling to be a part of so many restorations. I’ve done several myself and am fully aware of what a labor of love it is to bring a game back to a restored and often times better than new state. And I too am shocked by the amount of orders that have passed through my hands.
I wish I had kept an ongoing log if orders, but I’m a shitty bookkeeper.
I need to go through my emails as I knowI have new orders coming in, but I’m really focused on the current batch. With these now ready for finish the process is a bit out of my hands as I become dependent on weather. Tomorrow is suppose to be decent so I’m hoping to take advantage.
Today I finished hand sanding and finishing on all slots so these are all ready for finish.

Knocked down the grain with steel wool and applied a thin coat of dye. I cut it with isopropyl alcohol and that helps with saturation. I buy my dyes from Stewmac and they are marketed for electric guitar finishing.
And yeah, my wife parked her car in my shop. Wtf?

Trying to sort out how to get rails shipped while practicing social distancing. I now have a stamps.com account and will be using that. Rails will be a bit tricky but I’ll figure it out.

I am temporarily closing as my material source has closed due to Covid-19. I have a very small amount of material on hand and have reached out to a few people that had just reached out about a couple orders. I will do my best to find a new source and will obviously update when there is an update.

Today a set of Congo rails shipped and started QS and IJ. Also sharing a pic of the finish on a couple sets of Fathom rails. These are curing prior to shipping.
@too-many-pins thanks for following. Just shipped a load of rails to Chris so should hold him over for a bit. He’s a big reason why Reese Rails became more than just me making a couple sets for my personal projects. I’ve know Chris for over a decade now and am beyond humbled to be a part of the HEP restoration package, and I really mean that. I take pride in my work and how I run my business and it really saddens me to have to close even if just for a bit....cheers.

I did do some work today.
Working on a SS backboard. Chris at HEP sent me one to replicate for one of my customers. I was trying to go off of some drawings, but just too many details to layout.
Also working on 2xTZ, IJ and QS rails. They have been milled and drilled. Will sand and hopefully start finishing tomorrow. Also made carnitas and Cuban potatoes. Ate well. Cheers and be safe.

Rails are limited to finish in black lacquer or raw if you want to stain yourself. This will reduce the price $5 for regular sets or $10 for larger sets like Fathom.
I am limited to using 1/2” stock so cannot supply 1” thick pieces like seen on games
like Sorcerer.

djblouw Unfortunately I have not had a set for Kiss come in. That said the set looks very similar to Mata Hari which I do have. If someone can take measurements for Kiss I'd be happy to make up a set so someone can mark them up for a template for future use. Just hit me up.

Most likely. I’ll post if I get them. I should have some measurements for Voltan coming in. Will make a set to send out for fitting and marking underside of rails just in case nothing gets sent in.
Worked on a Wh20 backboard and rails for 2 different projects. Wh20 backboard is .52 plywood, which I don’t have so I used my router table to thin out a piece of 3/4”.
These have already hit the finishing stage as I hit the midday pocket of low humidity. Will work in these when I can over the weekend.

Sorry I’ve been quiet, but inability to get material and humidity has just about completely shut me down. I am going to have to shut down for a bit until I get a steady flow of material, this may mean I start a queue for the fall when weather is more suitable to spraying lacquer.

I do believe I’ve got every order confirmed ready to go other than Playboy as I’m working on a match for the color.

JDissen87 I currently do not have them so would need them sent in. I'll update here when I can start making rails again. Big obstacle is securing material right now and I usually try to stockpile when I can and will do so if the chance arises.
