These have all shipped. Still waiting to hear on a couple sets of QS and a Seawitch set. If these are no longer wanted I will post them up for sale.

I still have Skateball set that are packed and ready to ship.

I will be contacting people with tracking and totals today. Taking the weekend off.

Pretty much. The way my basement is laid out number 11 makes it a squeeze to get by when someone is playing but all the glass can be removed so it works. I do have an EM Soccer Game that I could swap out with a couple pins, but it’s a family favorite.

Next batch has started. These sets include FH, TAF, Fathom, F14, F2K, Wh2O, CFTBL and TAF and a SS backboard. Congo rails should be on their way this week.

I can’t take any new orders right now. Up to my neck. Slid in a QS and Fathom order in. Hope Congo lands and I’ll knock those out.

I didn’t know you had a Bally World Cup. A beast of an arcade game but so much fun.

I put many coins into the one in my local summer arcade at the Jersey Shore.

A game anyone can play!

#858 4 years ago

Holy crap! That Bally World Cup is AWESOME! Damn you, Taylor, now I want one!

It’s a blast, and best part is it only set me back $200.

Marked these out.

That’s a steal. The unit must weigh at least 500 pounds.

Did it cost you or someone else their back?

It was a pretty brutal load in. Honestly don’t remember how, but I did it alone.

These have all been milled and drilled and first step is sanding completed. Next up Is to hand sand all edges and scrape any notches. Getting to the burnout stage early this year.

It's amazing how many people are restoring games these days. That photo above, just one batch of one specialized part from a single DIY seller. Imagine how many games are being ripped part and resurrected this month, this year, this decade. I remember when (old man voice) the hobby was so small, there were fewer RGP regulars than rails on that workbench. Pretty cool to see where it is now. Huge thanks to Taylor for his podcasting, part making, and posting contributions to the hobby.

#868 4 years ago

yancy first, let me say thanks for the kind words. I know I said it before, but it truly is humbling to be a part of so many restorations. I’ve done several myself and am fully aware of what a labor of love it is to bring a game back to a restored and often times better than new state. And I too am shocked by the amount of orders that have passed through my hands.

I wish I had kept an ongoing log if orders, but I’m a shitty bookkeeper.

I need to go through my emails as I knowI have new orders coming in, but I’m really focused on the current batch. With these now ready for finish the process is a bit out of my hands as I become dependent on weather. Tomorrow is suppose to be decent so I’m hoping to take advantage.

Today I finished hand sanding and finishing on all slots so these are all ready for finish.

Knocked down the grain with steel wool and applied a thin coat of dye. I cut it with isopropyl alcohol and that helps with saturation. I buy my dyes from Stewmac and they are marketed for electric guitar finishing.

And yeah, my wife parked her car in my shop. Wtf?

These are soooooo worth it! They fit perfectly the finish is beautiful and is super durable. With a million things that has go into a full restoration... going with Reese Rails is a no brainer.

I’m finding some emails from Pinside in my junk file.

If you are trying to get in touch hit me up at [email protected]

Trying to sort out how to get rails shipped while practicing social distancing. I now have a stamps.com account and will be using that. Rails will be a bit tricky but I’ll figure it out.

Cheers

#878 4 years ago

Rails are wrapped and packed. I’m now set up to ship from home with Stamps.com and am setting up pickup through USPS. I have 8 packages headed out tomorrow and will set up another pick up for Monday.

Be safe.

I am temporarily closing as my material source has closed due to Covid-19. I have a very small amount of material on hand and have reached out to a few people that had just reached out about a couple orders. I will do my best to find a new source and will obviously update when there is an update.

Thanks to everyone for an amazing run and I hope to continue once we get through this.

Cheers- Taylor

#884 4 years ago

Taylor,

Sad to hear you have to close because of your supplier closing. It seemed like you had a perfect little business going working at home and shipping something to customers. We have never done business but I have always followed your post with lots of interest. I know Chris (HEP) will be sad you are closed he always talked highly of your work.

#885 4 years ago

Bummer, all this time now to do restorations and no Reese Rails

#886 4 years ago

Yikes! I was just going to PM you with an order. Lol. I’ll keep tuned to this thread for when things get back to “normal”!
Good luck and stay safe.

#887 4 years ago

I reached out to a local mill and am trying to see if there is a way to get more stock. Will update if that works out.

Today a set of Congo rails shipped and started QS and IJ. Also sharing a pic of the finish on a couple sets of Fathom rails. These are curing prior to shipping.

@too-many-pins thanks for following. Just shipped a load of rails to Chris so should hold him over for a bit. He’s a big reason why Reese Rails became more than just me making a couple sets for my personal projects. I’ve know Chris for over a decade now and am beyond humbled to be a part of the HEP restoration package, and I really mean that. I take pride in my work and how I run my business and it really saddens me to have to close even if just for a bit....cheers.

@gritty I am going to do my best to get up and running.

@qbass187 I had an order drop out for now so hit me up if still interested.

If you can’t make rails you can make more podcasts!

I wanted to let you know what a great job your daughter did on the latest podcast.

You have done a terrific job raising a fine young woman.

She will be running your podcast in no time.

Be safe and be well.

Thanks so much, both my girls blow my mind with their brains and humor. Ella was great and put my interviewing skills to shame. Jon has been a friend for a while and I really just wanted to catch up more than a formal interview.

I did do some work today.

Working on a SS backboard. Chris at HEP sent me one to replicate for one of my customers. I was trying to go off of some drawings, but just too many details to layout.

Also working on 2xTZ, IJ and QS rails. They have been milled and drilled. Will sand and hopefully start finishing tomorrow. Also made carnitas and Cuban potatoes. Ate well. Cheers and be safe.

Alright, got some more stock in and taking orders, but there are some restrictions on what I can do.

Rails are limited to finish in black lacquer or raw if you want to stain yourself. This will reduce the price $5 for regular sets or $10 for larger sets like Fathom.

I am limited to using 1/2” stock so cannot supply 1” thick pieces like seen on games
like Sorcerer.

Hit me up.
