I'm having a small gathering on NYE. Last year I put a dollar bill on every machine and said highest score takes it. It got everyone playing more than they would normally. I may do the same again this year, but I'm looking for some more ideas. NH Pinball ran a neat tournament at Pintastic called American Pinball Warrior. It was goal based and on a timer. In my situation it would be much easier if the game detects the goal, for example, Fuel champion on Metallica gets a high score entry. I'll reset all the scores before the party. The more creative goals would require a referee, which is fine. The Pinball warrior set a goal on several machines and started with a stopwatch. First to complete all of the goals in the fastest time won. I'd like to have some portions of the tournament be anyone's game, meaning a non player could concentrate on something and win. Myself, my brother and my 2 boys understand the rules fairly well. My wife may have a window between 5 and 6 drinks she will play one or 2 games. There will be another couple that has virtually no pinball experience, but will probably be up for whatever. Anyone have some fun tournament ideas for a mixed crowd? Games in the lineup will be Stern Star Trek, Funhouse, Metallica, Tron, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Aerosmith, Dialed In, Spiderman, Donkey Kong and 2 MAME machines. Freddy NMOES and Big Buck Hunter Arcade are down, but maybe fixed by Monday.
