What is a good option for a cheap ram tester . I bought a bunch of these but don't have a tester. What happened if you install a bad or shorted one into a game?
I think my tester has the updated code as the last red and green led flash back and forth when doing the testing. I've tested 2 factory 6264 ram chips I've taken out of wpc games and both passed. I've tried all 11 NVRAM and they all fail I've even tried putting them in a socket then putting the socket into the tester with the same results.
Have to try again tonight. maybe email neoloch and see if the is a newer code. .
There's no way I have 13 bad chips as I installed the first 2 without testing and they work fine.
Quoted from Drewscruis:I could swear there are unused pins for the 6116 on a sys11, all that needs to be done is install a new socket and change a jumper. I could be wrong but I will look later.
11B and 11C do have the extra holes. 11A does not.
Quoted from Pin_Guy:These are my thought exactly; in fact the game should be 100% operations with the original RAM you removed installed in the socket you added to the board...if you can't achieve this than maybe you should consider sending it out.

I can remove it in one piece but why when its so much easier to clip the legs off the old chip? I will never use the original chip again. Even if the nvram went bad id get another nvram.
