I've already fixed five games with nvram so when I started with my sixth I thought it would be easy (and it probably is) but this card got me confused.

The current RAM is a 84256C-10L and according to http://lockwhenlit.com/anyPinlist.htm this can be replaced with a 6264 nvram chip. Ok, easy, same as the previous ones!

Then I took a look at the jumper configuration on the board just to verify and I expected it to be a resistor at R93 and nothing at W3 (as 6264 dictates) and while R93 is there, there is also a zero ohm resistor at W3 making a connection.

Then I goggled on my ram name and found a thread here on pinside stating that my ram chip should use a 62256 type nvram. In that case R93 shouldn't be installed at all, but it is.

Can anyone help me with this. I think I can use a 6264 nvram chip but why is W3 there? Should I remove W3?

    Thank you.

The Pinwiki is an under-utilized resource. It is a great place for "self help".

I've read the pinwiki several times but not that specific part, thanks for the pointer.

Ok, so apparently wpc95 always have R93. My previous games I fixed with nvram were all wpc or wpcs so this didn't apply to them and was new to me.

    As I want to install a 6264 nvram I simply have to cut/desolder w3 for wpc-95 then.
