Wait for the light to flash on each one and then knock down a target, this locks on that bonus and the timer goes off until you knock down the other two. Do that for each drop target. If you knock one down and the timer does not go off, then that should be your bad switch.

Pinbot has a very similar feature with gaining planets, someone had cut the wires on the switches and it never worked properly until I reconnected them.
