Item description

This listing is for a clearcoated, dimpled and drilled ORIGINAL NOS IJ playfield set. As most of you know, IJ NOS PFs are pretty much ‘unobtanium’. I’ve owned an IJ for years and wanted to hold onto this for a full restoration project, but my original is in good enough condition and the economics don’t make sense for my example. However, that doesn’t mean someone else out there wouldn’t appreciate and be able to use it for their crown jewel restoration job.

I obtained it from a friend from one of his many pin trades. It wasn’t perfect and did have a few scratches on it from being improperly stored over the years, but it was restored and cleared by Ron Kruzman. He took his time on this project and he did an amazing job. The mini PF was in perfect condition. The inserts are perfectly level and un-chipped. The clearcoat has been curing since last October, so it’s ready for install. I’ve only taken it out of the crate once to look at it.

I know the price sounds steep. I am only asking for what I have into it. The NOS main and mini PF were $2500 and it cost $1500 to fix, clear, template, drill and dimple.

I’m open to offers and trades. I realize it might be easier to trade this +/- cash for the right machine. My top short list would be JJP POTC, MBR, JJP DI, WOZ. Would also consider anything on my wishlist.

The enclosed pics were taken with incandescent can lighting and should give an idea of the condition of this amazing PF.

I’m tempted. Actually I’m looking for a complete high end/CQ restoration by Chris Hutchins (HEP), Bryan Kelly, Chad Keller, Jim McCune, PinballMikeD.

Wow. That’s a rare bird for sure.

A lot of people are contacting me for a reference on this pf. The seller never saw the pf before buying and didnt realize how much it was going to cost to get it up to the quality it should be. It needed paint work (5 colors), dental work, and then both pfs needed drill and dimple, plus clear. I felt crappy and discounted my hourly rate because he didnt expect the costs.
To answer peoples questions, the pf is my work, I did whet I listed just now. its beautiful, rare, and the seller is a very honest person, and is not making a cent.

What's the best way to store these to prevent more scratches in the future?

I am not sure if I should answer, but it will just bring it back up to the top for the seller so may as well.
This pf was scratched because there were pfs stacked on top that has t nuts sticking out, actually I think it was screws on the t nuts to keep them from turning.
I believe in a game is best, but this pf more than likely comes in a wood crate. I store them on their side against the wall so they are not at an angle. pf's are ply wood which will warp sitting at any angle. it dosen't hurt them at all. I often lean them the opposite way for gravity to fit it, in a couple days. Again, if you install it, the weight of the parts and the way they are made to sit in the cab takes care of the warp problems. The designers knew they were dealing with a material that was going to warp.

There is one problem with plywood. sometimes when it is made, one of the plys will have bark, or a big void or knot which will cause the other plys to pull unevenly on the soft ply. (they are made to pull on each other for strength). Then you will get a twist. I have never seen one that didnt straighten out from installation.

I dont mean to be a busy body. Just thought I would answer since I have owned a lot of pfs
