Quoted from IdahoRealtor:Lol. Exactly. "I refust to power it on because it's only new once". Biggest line of horse shit I've ever read on Pinside.
It's the new "I just picked this up and never plugged in."
This sounds just like someone who finds out that something doesn't work and then advertises it as "untested"
Beware that this seller cannot be trusted to honor whatever agreement you reach on this machine. I had a deal to buy it yesterday for $8K (still too high, but I really wanted it) and now he's going back on it. First, it was, "Now I'm being told I could get $10K or more," then it was, "I would rather sell it to somebody that will never play it and just wants to keep it as a museum piece."
A 20 Thousand Dollar High Speed
by
MPU removed but never used, so it's
Only New Once [you fix it], because it's
Played but not really [that much], so it's
A Real Time Capsule [of Laziness], hence its
Really shiny dome (and repainted legs), but it's
Just Not Gonna Be Turned On, you see, because it's
Only New [once you fix it!], then it's
Extremely overpriced for a project, so it...
...Sucks

He's a moron for even asking 8k. You are fortunate

Joe Zenk? He's the only person that could post this sort of foolishness
On an old forum I used to frequently visit we had "banhammer Wednesday" and it was exactly what it sounds like. Once a week a member was voted off the island
Quoted from IdahoRealtor:Lol. Exactly. "I refust to power it on because it's only new once". Biggest line of horse shit I've ever read on Pinside.
Exactly. Assuming someone is foolish enough to pay anywhere near this price, I doubt powering the machine on will be a deal breaker for them.
Exactly. And it was powered up at the factory, so it's not the first time this has been lit up. Complete BS ad... for $20K

I agree with the others, you dodged a bullet on what is basically a project pin. Honestly, as it sits, not knowing if it works, cool story and all, a fair price is probably around 2 or 3 thousand. If it powers up and plays without issues, maybe a bit more? You about got seriously ripped off.

You offered 8k for this and this is your first post, you did dodge a bullet. What makes you think this is worth 8k?
Quoted from Eric_Allen:I had a deal to buy it yesterday for $8K (still too high, but I really wanted it)
Jeez dude.
Newbie.
Quoted from pinlink:I'd be suprised if it sells for more than 3,500
I wouldn't.
Assuming the cpu works as op states, this is basically a really nice hs with a new pf on it. HS is going 2500-3000 right about now on average.

It looks like the OP is trying to create an auction and up the bid from this guy or anyone else that happens upon this ‘deal’!
You guys are HILARIOUS!!... Most of you can't even read the post correctly...
The game was NEVER played from new, when it was opened out of the box, nor did he even put the legs on it....The "damage" happened when he took it out of the box, and Williams sent him another new machine, so he never did anything with it... It couldn't/wasn't played, because the head was never put back on it....He used the CPU (ONE TIME) to test it in his other HIGH SPEED machine, when the OTHER machine had an issue he was trying to figure out...THIS ISN'T ROCKET SCIENCE!...The "wear spot" on the yellow rubber that some moron mentioned, is a greasy finger print, that I'm sure has been there since the game was assembled new, but nice try!!
Sorry for all you arm chair 1/4backs that think this game isn't worth strong money, and your comments are amusing and ignorant at the same time!!...My price was set as "OR OFFER", but I can tell you I already have an offer of 10G from a DEALER, that wants to sell it for a profit!..That dealer spoke to THREE other dealer froends of his, and ALL said the machine was worth MORE than 10G...If you don't like it, then MOVE ON!
Quoted from MOPARJOE:The "damage" happened when he took it out of the box, and Williams sent him another new machine, so he never did anything with it
Wow, Williams would just send another game and not get the damaged one back? How generous!
Quoted from Blackbeard:I wouldn't.

But, but, it's NOT a new PF! It's a very OLD playfield that hasn't been used. The pics don't show if there's any planking going on, what shape the clear is, etc.
You can go buy a new reproduction cabinet, stencil it, put in a *NEW* remake PF, NEW boards, plastics, etc and still come in way under the price being asked here and truly get a New (reproduction) version of the game if you're looking for New and Shiny.
This machine isn't new and shiny. It's old and dusty, looks like the plastics have had too much UV exposure and I will bet there's a decent amount of oxidation on the guides, ramps, basically any metal in it.
Sometimes "NOS" is not a good thing....
pretty good of Williams to send a whole new machine out for free because it was damaged by the way it was unpackaged. man you dont see service like that any more hunh

I would take the 10G quickly, I mean quick.
You shouldn't have even posted here if you didn't want arm chair quarterback's.
What, are you new to pinside?

Yes, that's what they did for their operators, to keep them happy when they made a mistake...He still had the other High Speed when I was there. It was a used/ROUTED High Speed, in pretty nice condition, and it sold for $3600.00...So I am REALLY amused at you experts saying this machine only worth $3500.00
How about the moron that says it needs a new back box?...Or even better, the guy that says the machine is probably oxidized on all the metal parts, when CLEARLY I stated there is NO OXIDATION of any kind, and everything looks like the day it was made!...Learn how to read people!
I will be doing the minor repairs and touch-ups to he corners of the head, and putting the head on the cabinet, so you guys will have to bitch about that next!
Quoted from luch:Cpu was taken out because he had a problem ? how would he know there was a problem unless the game was played ?
I think he is trying to say that *another* game had a problem, so the board out of the “brand new, never been touched” HS was used to test it.
Also, the serial number on the board doesn’t match the rest of the machine. I was told not to worry and that it really *was* the original board because a) he was told by the guy he bought it from that it was and b) the numbers only differed by a few digits, so clearly it was either just a typo or somebody grabbed the wrong board off the assembly line.
So really, the most likely answer is that the operator who originally owned this machine needed a working board, grabbed the one out of the brand new machine and the board with a problem ended up with the machine being sold.
“The numbers just being off by a few digits” is kind of like asking a casino to pay you for a blackjack if you have 20 or 22.

If someone offered you 10k, TAKE IT RIGHT NOW AND NEVER LOOK BACK!!!! Why are you even posting it here? Anyone that says it's worth more than 10k is the real fool. There were over 17,000 of these made, and yours is in worse shape than many despite it never being played.
Quoted from MOPARJOE:How about the moron that says it needs a new back box?
I'm confused, if it was so minor, why would Williams completely take a loss on it and send out an entirely new game?
To get a decent starter HS would take $2-3K. Putting in a CPR playfield and getting cabinet work done to make it as nice as the one in this ad would get you pretty close to $8K. Then there’s the small factor of being able to get one and play it now instead of waiting who knows how long for work to be done. Also, I had a trusted professional carefully evaluate all the photos and tell me, “If this machine doesn’t work right away, any problems should be very minor.”
Quoted from Brtlkat:You offered 8k for this and this is your first post, you did dodge a bullet. What makes you think this is worth 8k?

This trusted professional is not professional or to be trusted any trusted professional would tell you this is a gamble and you could be chasing issues for a long while before this plays well.

Yep this^^^, They figure you want to pay 8k for a HS why not tell you its worth it and charge you another 8k on top of that to do minimal work to it.

What, are you new to pinside?
Apparently he’s new to common sense too.
WOW, just wow!...You people (and opinions, at best) are awesome, to say the least!..You can't compare values son something that has nothing to compare it to...Show me ANY other NOS, never played High Speed game being offered EVER. (or for that matter, ANY other 1980's machine that is NOS/never played, damaged or not!).
And mentioning how many were made has no relevance to this situation, because how many were never played??..Even if production figures had anything to do with anything, then how do you explain what Addams Family machines are selling for?..Or, how about the crazy prices all the machines at the Califirnia auction sold for this past September????
BTW ERIC_ALLEN....Nice try trying to divert my CPU info, but you already know that I saw the other machine with my own eyes, and I checked the CPU board, and it was TOTALLY different serial number than mine, and matched that machine.
The real question is, where is the topper. I do have one hanging in my garage right now. So who ever buys this game for 20k please feel free to contact me. I have looked at other toppers like GB and walking dead. So I think 2k is a fair price.

20220107_124556 (resized).jpgHey, OP! You wouldn't HAPPEN to be FRIENDS with Mike PACAK, would you? Because you're FROM Ohio and you DEFINITELY write JUST like him! LOL!!!
I promised myself that I'd stop clicking on these ridiculous over priced Pinball sales. I'm glad I broke that promise, pretty funny stuff here.
