Started my PF swap on my NOS PF yesterday, this was my first clearcoat job.
I got the PF off of Ebay for $500 + shp, talked to father-in-law about what clear to use and how to do it (he does auto paint), I took a couple of old PFs over and shot about a 1/4 qt. of clear on them to get the jist of it.
Layed down 2 thin coats and sanded with 1200,2000 and 3000. Put on 1 more nice thick coat and sanded with 2000, 3000, buffed and polished.

Here is the final product all assembled, still need to adjust and tune er up.
This is my wifes machine and she is amazed at how good it looks.

I like those lane guides with the black lettering. Did you do that and how ?

It's Sharpie!!

#5 11 years ago

That is gorgeous!!! Seriously nice!

#6 11 years ago

Thanks

#8 11 years ago

That's the best looking example of FS I've ever seen!

#9 11 years ago

Best ever.

Great job!

#11 11 years ago

Thanks for the compliments, I was really on the fence about applying the clear myself, but now I'm glad I jumped.
If anyone knows of a NOS plastic set or BG, PM me. Testing my work today and then wrapping it up for the TPF!

I have the old PF w/ the hardware, some of it will have to be re- assembled, but it is a good touch up canidate. If you want it it is yours.

I'd be interested. I've got a playfield, but it's completely bare and isn't a great candidate for touch up. Lemme know what you want for it.

I'm going to sell my Rollergames and start seriously looking for a FS. As long as I can find something with a structurally sound body and a decent backglass, all the rest can be fixed.

Nice job, bub!

I know Shawn Christian has one of my old FS cabs, he was going to use it for a virtual pin, you may be able to talk him out of it. And I may have a spare back box harness. The PF I have has the harness as well.

Here are some before and after of the PF...
Cleaned up all of the check cracked paint with ME, then fixed the lose inserts and wet sanded with 2000.

Then the compound and polish.....

^^^ the good stuff!

#20 11 years ago

I love seeing these older machines get the attention and maintenance they deserve. It is so rare to see something this old in such good condition.

#21 11 years ago

A couple of years ago I saw a NOS, fully populated,FS PF still in the factory wooden box on Ebay, missed out on it for $700, when my wife saw this one, it was a done deal.

#22 11 years ago

Is this the machine/playfield that you're going to have at TPF? It's *gorgeous*!

#23 11 years ago

If Frax doesnt take the playfield, I would be interested. I have Shawn's cabinet I'm repainting now, a beautiful backglass and all the NOS pieces I could get a hold of. I just have a crappy playfield that I'm considering making an overlay for since I haven't been able to find a nice one.

#24 11 years ago

Yeah. Hes got my playfield to scan it but it will need a LOT of touch up in digital to make a viable overlay lol. :/

#25 11 years ago

I love Future Spa! Would like one in the collection someday. PF look fantastic!

It will be there

I'll be the person putting up 4 player games all weekend.

*edit* Oh, and for the record, it's like pulling teeth to get my wife to post here, but she posts for this?

Yeah. I'm sorry, but I friggin' NEED a Future Spa. >=P

Frax chime in if you want it, $50, if not .......

If I remember correctly, when I recieved the PF, Gregg Deal came over and made a 1 scan of it. I will check with him.

PM Sent, and holy crap if that's true, especially if it was done on a Cruze scanner and doesn't have to be stitched back together. I'd probably pay for the high res scan as well.

#31 11 years ago

Not on a Cruze, but Gregg does an amazing job on the stitching. I have a bunch of 1's that he has done. PS-AI is his gig!

#32 11 years ago

looks fantastic. Shameless plug, after seeing this awesome Future spa. if your looking for one. I still have mine for sale. If your in SE Wi area. More than welcome to come play it. Future spa is a great playing machine. Lots of fun. If you like Paragon, you'll like Future spa.

Also, I like the highlights on the bally lettering lane guides. Easy to do and really stands out.

#33 11 years ago

Thanks bro! What are you asking on the FS?

#34 11 years ago

I would really like the scan of the Future Spa playfield. That'd save me a bunch of tedious work. I've got a way to print an overlay, but just need good art to start with.

#36 11 years ago

Wow. Very nice!

I will check with Gregg, PM me on a price to print off a scan for a standard PF.

#38 11 years ago

What will you do with the scan?

#39 11 years ago

Make a PF.
