MA vs CT : Treehouse/Trillium vs Back East/NEBCo
I think MA wins that one

CT now has over 140 microbreweries and many of them make excellent beers. Yes Nebco and Back East are great. But, Kent Falls, Counterweight, Hooker, Blackhog, Brassworks, Legitimus, Shebeen, Fat Orange cat, Counterweight, Firefly, Alvarium, Clockwork, New Park. The list of quality beers goes on and on. Many of these rival and are actually better than treehouse and trust me, I've had my share of treehouse.

You know what? I think this thread is now officially where the cool kids (and I) are hanging out. I think I'll actually post my for sale ads here first.

I’m always looking for a good lamb shawarma in north Jersey area
    Amir’s (NYC)
    Mahmoud’s (several in NJ)
    Carmel Haifa (Morris Plains)
    Falafel Hut (Montclair)
    Ibby’s (Jersey City)
Who’s got some good shawarma. And I don’t mean no damn falafel!

The conversation seems all over the place so I'll just say that New Haven style pizza is the best. I (pre-covid) commuted to NYC and have had pizza all over, you just can't beat New Haven.

Thank you, Sally's, Pepe's and Modern. All in the top 20 in the US!

New Park and New England Brewery are fantastic. New Park is one of the best kept secrets.

Hmmm. Not sure who does the rankings , but next time I am driving North on 95 will have to look these places up. Which one would you recommend first?
I have a buddy in New haven. Could make for a road trip (after Covid shots of course)

My favorite of the three is Modern. Those places can all have very long lines but Pepes has opened more locations in CT the past few years so you can try them out for authentic New Haven pizza. The new locations are a touch below the OG but still incredibly good.

Going to the casino and eating at Pepe's is great, you can people watch folks coming down the escalator.

Smoked bologna this past weekend. Fried thick slices in a cast iron pan with butter served on wonder white bread with Dukes mayonnaise

Looking for an Iron Maiden pro within three hours of NJ. Oh wait...wrong thread.

Where does one find a smoked bologna or did you smoke it? Looks delicious.

How does it compare to a Taylor Pork Roll?

I purchased a stick of German bologna from our local grocery store. I peel the casing off the bologna and use a bone in knife and cut a grid pattern in it. That allows me to rub yellow mustard and then apply a BBQ rub on it. I let the rub sit on it for 20 minutes and then I put it in my smoker for 2 hours. I let it rest. I cut thick slices and pan fry it.

Looks amazing! Now officially on my Summer "what do I smoke next" list!
