So the car trip to my collection has caused a weird issue on my North Star.

The sling shot 10 points are not scoring. The solenoids fire as expected.

The top 10 point thumper bumpers are not scoring.

Both ball captures fail to score anything. And the ball kick out will not trigger.

When I manually trigger the J relay, the ball will get ejected from the ball capture.

The pop bumpers will score 10 points when lit

The contacts on each associated switch stacks are clean and properly adjusted.

I checked the jones plugs and all look good.

So this is stumping me.

I am including a picture of the schematic that deals with the ball capture. I figure that this is the key to solving this problem.

I can provide any section of the schematic.

Do the rollover buttons score?

By "ball capture" I assume you mean the kickout holes?

Nearly everything you describe could be caused by a switch at score motor 1C being open. I say "nearly" though, because it should also prevent the pop bumpers from scoring.

But either the left and right kickout hole switches closing should activate the J relay, via a normally closed switch at motor 1C. Then when J energizes, the score motor should run, score motor switch 4C closes, and both kickouts should fire.

Other than the motor switches, the only other common thing I can think of in the path would be Jones plugs. The signal needs to get from the playfield to the bottom board and to the backbox. So if one is not plugged in, or not fully, maybe. Even though they look good, reseating them, and making sure they're in the correct spots might be worthwhile.

The rollover buttons do not score.

The ball capture is indeed the kickout holes.

I will double check the 1C switch and the jones plug connections.

Problem solved.

I feel so sheepish.

The fix was plugging in the third jones plug in the head.

In my hurry to get the game set up, I forgot to plug in all the jones plugs!

The game is working perfectly now.

I guess next time I'll have to delivery and set it up for you...geez!

Marcus I did that once and freaked out. I think it was King of Diamonds. I must have spent an hour trying to figure it out and all it was was the smallest jones plug.

Try missing getting a small plug reinstalled on a HUO Monster Bash and freaking out. Happened to me a dozen years ago. I know more now than I did then.
