For those of you who are looking for innovation in pinball....here's your answer. Gerry and his team are doing amazing things.
I got to spend a fair amount of time on the P^3 at Expo, and I don't think the videos do it justice. The ball-tracking technology makes hitting those floating asteroids really fun. For those that think you're "just playing a video game with a pinball", that's not the case at all.
One mode I played had a random scoop just above the LCD pop up, and you had a limited time to hit it. Another really challenging mode was the "black hole" mode, where the 4 scoops in the center popped up. The object was to hit ramps and targets to build up a jackpot, but NOT hit those scoops. If you hit a scoop, your ball went "down the black hole" (it's in the video) and you lost all your jackpot points. It was really hard not to get zero!
One last note....if you don't like that woodgrain cabinet, don't worry. The plan is to have the cabinet finish be custom order, so you can get a standard pinball artwork, a plain white, or even the stained woodgrain shown here. Gerry said he's got a couple of customers that want their P^3 to look like a piece of furniture so that they don't feel strange keeping it in a main living area...
This thing is going to be fantastic.
