I don't know why anyone brought up Maverick in this thread in the first place.

Comparing a movie that requires zero thought to one that requires nothing but doesn't make sense.

I like dumb movies when Im in the mood. I'll check out Maverick on a day where I don't want to think in the same way Ill eat fast food if I am bored or hungry enough.

That’s fine, and I completely agree with you about the film, which I enjoyed seeing in iMax at a theater on Memorial Day.

But this moron movie has fools jerking off all over the theater and claiming it’s on par with The Godfather or Lawrence of Arabia. “The greatest movie I’ve seen in years!!!”

I’m not slandering the movie. Im slandering them, just like Ice is slandering anybody who claims they saw Nope and didn’t loathe it.

I also thought it was more on animal behavior and exploitation as a theme. Son and I liked it, I know it was long but didn't feel overly long to me. I didn't feel any political/race relations subtext but I also wasn't looking...

Real obvious one is when they mentioned the black rider that got no historical credit on the first filmed footage with the horse. Maybe 3 times? The chick even says “we have skin in the game”. That’s a low hanging one so if people miss that they sure as hell aren’t getting the rest.

I have to agree. We tried to watch Peele's Twilight Zone series but it was so political we literally had to stop watching it...

I thought as you. Don’t like Cruise, didn’t like Top Gun all that much. Except for Iceman. But Maverick is entertaining and much better then Top Gun. The flight scenes alone on a big screen with big sound are mandatory. Is there a thread for Maverick?

Who asked why Val Kilmer was brought back and not the old ladies? Because it’s Val Kilmer!! and he’s fading away. Probably the last time we see him on the big screen. Living legend! Watched his documentary on Prime, I forgot how A-list he was. Years back I bought tickets for Tombstone, walked in- completely empty. Thought we wasted $15. 2 some hours later, best $15 ever spent- Kilmer should have got an Oscar.

You might want to give it a chance at the theater. This is the type of movie that a big screen with a great sound system would be much prefered to the small screen.

Being I lover of classic 50's sc-fi, I found this film seemed like a modern take on those types of movies. Don't want to spoil anything but the monster is a very unique and original design.

I enjoyed it as a fun summer B grade monster movie and didn't find it "woke" at all.
