I will use this post to update the " none shall pass" qualifying -

    https://pinside.com/pinball/events/none-shall-pass-2015

So far Joe Said and Chris Newsom have qualified, Spencer Jaimeson has been eliminated and Cristin Gasson is tied 2-2 with one game to play.

    #2 5 years ago

Wow....that's a bizarre format. I guess do what ya gotta do to max your points....lmao.. Like the idea of a gatekeeper format like that, but the timeframes involved... this is what IFPA had in mind to determine player skill?

    #3 5 years ago

I like trying different formats, I'd like to think the first part of the format is more goofy than bizarre. That being said the metric is the same for all players and the finals are about as standard as you can get. Also I prefer to run smaller tournaments but wanted to have at least one full point or close to full point tournament next year and this is what I came up with- unconventional, a bit goofy with a splash of vanity.

I will be in the area on the weekend of Feb 15th. I will shoot you an email in early Feb to see if you (and I, really) would be available for battle.
    Questions!
    Any updated standings to report?
If we lose to you in round 1, is it one chance and one chance only?
For everyone you beat, do they all tie for last? (for WPPR purposes)?

    #5 5 years ago

    I like it (tournament format).

What happens less than sixteen people beat you?

    3 weeks later
    #6 5 years ago

funtimewithdave- yes shoot me an e-mail, should be able to make it work the weekend of the 15th.

if you lose in the best of 5 in round one you are out- one chance only.

For WPPR purposes people who lose to me 3-0 will all be tied for last, people who lose 3-1 will all be tied in the next batch and people who lose 3-2 will all be tied at that tier.

if less than 16 people beat me then the round 2 would count for seeding only and i'm uncertain if that would then make those 6 games not count for total games played for WPPR purposes.

    #7 5 years ago

Oh and i do have updated results.

    Ethan Gasson - Eliminated 3-0
    Adam Kamber - Eliminated 3-0
    Duncan Moseley - Eliminated 3-0
    Spencer Jaimeson - Eliminated 3-0
    Wendy Daley - Eliminated 3-0
    Ben Contreras - Eliminated 3-0
Sean James Brown - Eliminated 3-1
    Pete Pinocci - Eliminated 3-1
    Andrew Crawford - Eliminated 3-1
    Shawn Hillman - Eliminated 3-2

    Games in progress

    Cristin Gasson - Tied 2-2
Jess "the barkeep at Lyman's who i have to get her last name"- Jess 2 - James 1
    Brett Issacoff - Brett 1- James 0
    Kirk Zamieroski - Kirk 1- James 0

    Already Qualified
    Joe Said and Chris Newsom.

    Quoted from fna_royam:

    From http://www.ifpapinball.com/ranking-info#tgp
"The games played in the qualifying portion of the tournament can be added to the TGP calculation only if that qualifying portion reduces the field of participants by 50% or more. For tournaments where less than 50% of the field is removed in the qualifying process, the IFPA considers this 'seeding' and will not increase the TGP."
So now since the pingolf stage has been eliminated on your link
    https://pinside.com/pinball/events/none-shall-pass-2015
You will be fine and those first 5 games will count.

    #9 4 years ago

Yes, eliminated round two after re-reading, and perhaps finally understanding, the new WPPR rules. No-one had played any round 2 games yet so no harm. makes it a bit easier and the first 5 games should count because i recon i should beat more than 50% of the players in round one. Makes the tournament a bit easier for both the players and me too.

    #16 4 years ago

The Richmond Pinball League would like to invite you down to Richmond to set up a qualifying event.
We can set up a day for you to come down and I'll line up players to play you. LMK.

    #17 4 years ago

Yes the none shall pass is still happening, and funtime- your actually tied for last with 12 other people, people who won a game or won two games against me are in another tier. Unfortunately, the July speed run tournament is canceled though .

As for taking a little trip down I95 to play some Richmond Pinball League folk, I would welcome the opportunity.

I dunnit! I beat the Black Knight

    Whodunnit.jpg
    #22 4 years ago

In all seriousness though, that was a really fun series in which I was outclassed most of the way and did get a bit lucky with Whodunnit at the end. If you're in this thread and wondering if this format is fun, it definitely definitely is! I recommend it highly.

    #23 4 years ago

It has been a lot of fun so far, and the none shall pass road show will be traveling not only to Richmond to play some of the folk there but some of the Baltimore crew have graciously invited me to take a trip up I95 to play a session in Baltimore which I am looking forward to.

Went out to The Wind Up space where they had pro versions of TWD and Star Trek. And then went to CrabTown where I think there is a distinct home court advantage but perhaps that's sour grapes. The none shall pass was not that formidable in Baltimore tonight.

And a pat on the back to myself for getting to 64 players but with WPPR 5.1 needing players to have 5 tournaments before they count towards base points i still have a few more players to play before the tournament is 32 base points.
