Bally, 1981My sound stopped working on my EBD. I'm not getting a -5V on TP4 on the sound board, but not sure where it's supposed to come from. The schematics have a dead end arrow that says 'to -5v' but what creates the -5V? I am not sure where to look. coincidentally, my general illumination lights are all off too(both playfield and back glass). not sure if that is a separate issue of one in the same.

Yes, the are related. Get your GI working and the sound will return.

Check F5 and J4 on rectifier board.
Uggggh. Thank you so much for your response. The bizzare thing is that I pulled and checked all the fuses in the rectifier board already, and it checked good. Even after you suggested it, I tested it again, and it was good. So after some checking of the voltage from the transformer, then seeing it wasn't at TP4, I pulled the fuse again, and this time one end stayed in the clip. It was broken, but when I would hold it to test it was reading ok. Thanks for the motivation to go back over the stuff I checked already, a new fuse and it was working fine.
Had same issue this week with my Embryon, no -5v at TP4 (GI was fine). Tested VR1 and discovered it was barely hanging on, wiggled too many times and the legs stated breaking. Waiting on my new voltage regulator and hoping all ends well.
