Quoted from wayout440:Why botherwith the hassle of colored LEDs when you can just illuminate the whole game in color for your Ebay photos?
That bedroom though. How much vagina has been slayed in that room...
LEDs to me are like car mods; they're only worth anything to the person who installed them, but the seller always thinks they should demand a premium price.
Lost world has to have warm white bulbs, period. I tried cool white in mine and that even looked horrible. That green is a travesty.
So many people with assholes clenched tightly enough to turn their turds into diamonds. Over light bulbs.
I love this thread.
Quoted from CaptainNeo:this is the damn game that took me 4 1/2 hours to replace that stupid shit. Not this one specifically, but one done almost like it.
It's like Freddy Krueger's house on taco night.
I just spent a couple hours on mine. Looking much better with comet daylight bulbs. My mpu doesn't appear to be working, so the computer controlled bulbs aren't lit, unfortunately.
I don't know. That EFTLW I posted above looked just like the picture. The previous owner thought it looked great.
Quoted from Bugsy:Owner considers the LEDs an "upgrade".[quoted image][quoted image]
I know when I think wild west, I think multi colored LEDs.
Quoted from CaptainNeo:that's what mine looked like when I bought it from the guy. 4.5 hours to fix it correctly.
Mine wasn't quite this bad, but the owner had started swapping in red and green LEDs over a good portion of the playfield. It's already a dark game. Red and green lights certainly didn't help it any.
I don't think there's that much thought put into it. They watch some TNT YouTube videos and go to town. They just think it's cool.
I've seen a lot of those pinbots decked out in red and blue. Reminds me of the ziplock bags my wife buys that the zipper turns purple when you seal them.
Looking over the last 10 pages or so really made me realize how badly Space Invaders gets abused with multi colored leds. I don't think I've EVER seen this game in the wild, or in classifieds, with normal lighting.
Quoted from Mr_Tantrum:Sure those aren't cool white? Even so, I think Comet sunlight white would go perfect in EMs.
Still looks like ass
Quoted from PinballManiac40:Nasty...just plain nasty.[quoted image]
I just saw that on Facebook. Dude was pleased with himself. Good for him, I guess.
Quoted from dlbuller:I did it for my kids. I really thought they were getting into pinball. I let my 6 year old and 3 year old pick them out and they had fun helping their dad. I was also going to put some rad cals on the sides once they came out. I get it’s not every bodies cup of tea and it’s not a great selling feature...but man, makes me feel crappy I’m just being made fun of.
You'll find no quarter here...
Quoted from CaptainNeo:it's still not ok. Kids or not. If the kids wanted to help, they can put a white LED in that socket just as easy as a color. I'm not buying it.
I mean, it's ugly, but he didn't punt a baby across his front yard, or anything.
I think you're being a little dramatic.
A lot of people who've gotten into collecting pins in the last several years has gone through the colored led phase. I did. You see TNT videos and have at it. I grew out of it quickly, as many others have and many others will. At the end of the day, if I buy a machine with rainbow colors, I spend another 50 bucks on a bag of warm white Comets and swap them out. Problem solved. I enjoy this thread. I enjoy posting and seeing pics of machine and having a laugh, but I don't take it personally. No one should. I'm not going to act like you slapped my wife's ass because of colored lights in your machine. It's just pinball.
Down vote away...
Quoted from girloveswaffles:Ass-Hat spent all that time puking LEDs into the game and didn't do anything about the thrashed coin door, the dirty lock down bar and apron or the score and price cards.
To be fair, you can hardly see any of those things with the purple leds
Quoted from schudel5:$10k less and you can have this one instead.
[quoted image]
Maximum purple for your dollar
Quoted from Vino:You must be High...Speed.
When GI isn’t enough, replace beacon.
[quoted image]
It's red and blue. Like a cop car. Don't you get it?
Quoted from snowy_owl:Not mine, but I couldn't help posting this.
Before and after:[quoted image][quoted image]
They're doing the lords work...
That pinbot... lordy. I think they must've thrown all their leds into a bag and just let fate decide what colors go where.
Quoted from roffels:So true. I don't want all my electronics bathing my room in blue light all the time. Especially things like fans that I want running through the night.
Yep. Every piece of Chinese garbage in my house has a piercing blue led on the front.
Quoted from skywalker:Refurbished playboy [quoted image]
There's been an abundance of purple playboys lately
Quoted from jgreene:Not sure what they were going for with the 2/3 purple, 1/3 teal green. Bad part is there's actually a decent looking embryon playfield under the smear of colors.
There's probably some purple and a 1/8" dot of teal green in the artwork, so they decided purple and teal green leds all around. Color matching, bro.
Somewhere in China, there's a led factory worker who put his kids through college just from the blue leds produced for this thread.
Quoted from roffels:[quoted image]
I like how they threw in just enough purple to shake things up
Quoted from Vino:Defeat the Black Blight
[quoted image]
See this guy has imagination. Instead of just blue or purple, he went all out. The full spectrum.
Unfortunately, the common folk love them rainbow leds. He'll probably unload it pretty easily in rainbow bright form.
Quoted from snowy_owl:Star Blech: The next constipation[quoted image]
The final frontier is purple.
Quoted from Dexje:how was this not posted yet?

That dude just took it to a new level.
Quoted from PinballManiac40:The Shadow knows............
........how to puke!!![quoted image]
A shadow is all you'll see playing that game.
Quoted from Pablito350:Vomit
[quoted image][quoted image]
I really like the randomly placed green lights in the backglass.
Quoted from PinballManiac40:Rainbow Poker[quoted image]
Those 2 random green leds in the backglass really tie it all together.
The lazers in terminator were purple, therefore, you make the whole god damned machine purple. I hate having to explain this shit to you people.
Quoted from TheLaw:Yes...awful
Is it? Even all that rainbow shit going down the sides?
Quoted from DanMarino:It really is odd to mess up a classic machine like that. For some reason I can give someone a break for using confetti LED lights on a lesser title like Gold Wings, Gottlieb Rock, or even Bally Spy Hunter.
I think it's because old EM machines just look so off with colors. Hell, even having bright white bulbs in an EM seems weird to me.
Quoted from Boat:This was just listed across the country. My old tftc. Looks like they re puked it after I replaced all the gi with cool white
[quoted image]
Quoted from roffels:[quoted image] Rainbow hole?
They say not even light can escape the gravity of a black hole. I wish that were true
Quoted from transprtr4u:be nice .... very few are talented enough to match wall paint color to a pinball machine !
But did he match the leds to the walls, or the walls to the leds?
Quoted from roffels:Are we sure the walls are green? They just might be white and lit by green LED lights.
There is a shitty green glow coming from behind the machines...
Quoted from roffels:Get away please.
[quoted image]
Quoted from Beatnik-Filmstar:Clownpuked, and I would assume they used clear lens LEDs in the head?
[quoted image]
Dear God. As a comet owner, I'm offended.
Quoted from Gubbin:You can prolly see this one under water
[quoted image]
Water is blue, bro. Blue leds are am inspired choice.
Quoted from rickker:Came across this eyesore in the wild last night...[quoted image]
That guy shit on star wars worse than Disney
Before and after on the Demolition Man I recently purchased. All in all, it wasn't horrible. The ice blue leds they had in the GI didn't hide the ball as badly as most other colored leds. Still, this machine didn't nothing to relieve my hatred of blue leds. I still think it just looks better in white. Unfortunately, the led/neon wire they had super glued to the metal ramps(shown post removal) and Five Below led strips that were glued all over the cabinets and speaker grills weren't working, so I couldn't capture it's full glory.

Quoted from jcg9998:Is everybody in here 100% opposed to color LED's in totality or just in certain spots? I agree with most of the people in here in that just about every picture posted looks bad. I think most people don't know how to use color LED's.
If there is any white (or skin on a backglass) showing at all you can't use a color or it bleeds through the white and looks terrible. Also, if the bulb is visible to anyone looking at the game (like underneath the slingshots or any other plastics), you pretty much want it to be white. I almost always use cool white, with anything including all bulbs in my house. There have been some games in which I use the natural or sunlight when it matches better. But there are a lot of spots in various games in which the color looks pretty spectacular. This even works in some of my old woodrails (The horror!). It really depends on the game and the thickness of the plastic, clarity, color, etc. The more opaque the plastic, the better it looks. If you have an area in which the lights don't bleed, the color often looks great. For example, a bumper that is a solid color but with little to no clarity. Same goes with backglasses. Unfortunately, I can't really show you what I mean because I suck at photography and my pics never come out looking like they way the game looks in real life.
I could care less about inserts, but I've come to hate colored LEDs in GI and back glass.
Quoted from MoSeS_1592:Came across this pic accidentally and nearly barfed on my phone.
[quoted image]
Danny Glover's getting too old for this shit
I think my growing disliking of colored LEDs is spreading to Christmas lights. Driving through my neighborhood, I can't help but notice all the super saturated blues, greens and reds lighting on the houses. Or maybe in just a weirdo.
Quoted from SantaEatsCheese:Although not pinball, this 30 minute rant on modern Christmas LED lights and a crusade to fix them spiritually belongs here.
I watched his video on Christmas lights last year. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't almost considered hand painting a couple hundred warm white LED bulbs...
Quoted from TrisPin:Not sure if this is colour gi but saw on marketplace
[quoted image]
I think the color changing lights are built into the game
Quoted from TrisPin:Oh lord. Not a fan tbh haha, leave the rgb to gaming computers haha
From what I remember playing GnR, the lights are mostly white while playing. I don't remember it being horrible
Quoted from Engine09:I know some of the perpetrators of these crimes are checking this thread, have to be. I have questions.
Do you actually think adding colored bulbs to GI makes the game look better?
Do you realize that the playfield and plastics are already printed in color?
Do you think that maybe colored GI makes the ball harder to see?
Where did you get this idea?
I think I can answer this.
When I first got into the hobby, I watched a whole lot of TNT videos and every game they refurbish gets the LED Rainbow Brite treatment. I just figured it was the thing to do. I quickly realized that it did in fact look like the dog threw up Skittles on my machines and started swapping in white bulbs.
Quoted from DanMarino:I have a quandary with the new Space Station I brought home last weekend. I am adding cool frosted white LEDs to the regular GI. The upper playfield thing is translucent blue plastic and on the GI at the USA rollover lanes on the playfield, it originally came with exposed GI lights with blue condoms on them. I am torn between inserting frosted blue LEDs there (since it was the original intent) or sticking with cool frosted white.
There is no quandary about adding frosted green LEDs for the Condition Green multi-ball mode. I can't wait to add them in once they arrive in the mail. The original Condition Green bulbs with green condoms are all faded and not bright enough.
Try frosted ice blue. I think they'd still give the blue look and give off enough light to have a good view of what you're doing
