Will eventually do a teardown and restore the playfield, but in the meantime, I just replaced the batteries and decided as long as I had the backbox open, I might as well de-puke the translite.

Looks a tad bit nicer IMHO. As usual, LED spots are more intense on camera.

for those that say it's not a big deal when buying this crap. They try and say it's just swapping bulbs. They are full of shit. I had to do 2 games recently with this bullshit installed. Actually 3. And it sucked ass.
Escape from lost world. Puked out everywhere. 4 hours to do it correctly.
Pinball champ , Puked out in the bottom, cheap LEDs that didnt' throw any light on top. 3 Hours
Sinbad- Had flame flicker GI's everywhere. 1.5 hours.
So this is time that I do not have to spare I spend fixing stupid shit. People that do this crap try to justify it saying it's easy to convert back, but the time I lose, having to go back and fix someone elses work... costs me money and time. So if you insist on making your games look like complete ass. you better be prepared to sell at a discount.
in all fairness, that is factory and in a color wonder animation mode, or mode specific. Wonka does have normal lighting in normal play sections. 
Color changing for a mode is very different than having to put up with it the entire game.

I understand where you're leaning, but for the most part yes.
I was hoping Wonka wasn't going to be a family size bag of skittles like WOZ myself, but the base ruling is whether the GI can change or not. When Tag Team (wait is it tag team?) or Space Station, TWD etc etc change colors for a mode or reason it can change back. Johnny Dumbass loading the GI with green "because that's sort of a green area of the game like a jungle" is diff'rent.
Your best argument, which boy I'm right there too, are the CGC games above that are just fucking awful with it. But luckily you can turn off the colored GI *Effects in the settings

I’ve been in this hobby a little while now. I remember when woz was announced and when it came out... but what I don’t remember anymore is if people were clown puking before that... because I don’t really think they were... the led bulbs weren’t even all that great pre 2010 and many didn’t bother w/ them plus they were $$ so.... what came first? The woz or the clown puke?

Clown puke was before WOZ. there have been easily available LEDs for several years better WOZ. and pinball life had them cheap, the ablaze line
puking didn't become popular until the LED's got way brighter. before, even white was so dim, it would barely illuminate the GI's. But when they got brighter. People think they can actually illuminate GI's with color. Which still doesn't work, because humans have a hard time following moving objects in monochromatic lighting.

It was. I bought a TSPP in 2012 and Cointaker advertised a led kit for it. I emailed and asked for a pic. They sent me a color bombed playfield pic and said that the "colors really pop". That was the first time I heard that expression. I did not buy the kit.

Right, jjp was January 2011.. the first decent led’s At a good price we’re certainly the ablaze 3’s from pinballlife but they still weren’t bright to really color bomb in gi, they were really just good for inserts. Transformers le came out at the end of 2011 but we already knew woz was clown puking by then right?

Yes but it doesn't mean it's good though. We're talking about machines that are made over bright or discolored with the wrong lighting. Big Difference.
