Absolutely...I don't care one bit what people do to their machines, I'm glad it makes them happy. Doesn't stop it from looking like total shit, which leads us to this thread.

Total Red or Total Blue?
Quoted from Taxman:Total Red or Total Blue?
These machines are all Fruity Pebbled. haha
Quoted from Dee-Bow:ha ha! Noice. Im guilty of adding coloured led's, but i also think that whites look just fine as well. Whatever blows your hair back. Its YOUR machine! Do what you like..not what some grouchy know-it-all on pinside thinks your pinball should look like. That's all.
No hair here. Been shaving it off for 20+ years.
Those awful know-it-alls. Why listen to Neo, Bryan or Art? What have they done in the hobby? Listen to people who can change a bulb but not adjust a flipper.
Why don't you go to the LED threads and stay away from this club? It seems to upset you to the point where you can't help but insult the people here. You've just called us dipshits, know-it-alls and (gasp) grouchy.

Too Funny.....Heres My Christmas T-Shirt!!!
Quoted from Dee-Bow:science you have yet to back up with ANY written article documenting these studies on light reflection or retina reaction.. still waiting for PROOF ..not opinions
i'm not going to give you a tutorial on how humans see light and colors. Take biology. But I will show you how mono colors bleaches out other colors of the spectrum. If you ever developed film in a dark room, you would know this as well.
Quoted from Pinfactory2000:To YOU.
If someone wants their game to be completely blue, have at it. Its their property.
We can point and laugh in good fun but there are some here who think they are going to change peoples personal taste...And that, is pure awesomeness to witness.
I have to agree with this guy.
My fellow evil puke haters keep flying off on these bogus tangents about game sales and stuff like that. That stuff is all irrelevant.
There is no objective reason why clown puke is "wrong". It's impossible to be "wrong" about what you like or dislike.
If someone thinks that it's real neato to make the Atlantis girls glow bright red, he is NOT "wrong".
Being "wrong" about red Atlantis girls is like being "wrong" about putting katsup on chocolate cake. It's a matter of taste.
Since arguing over this topic is a flat waste of time, the actual usefulness of this thread is that the anti-clown faction is finally allowed to say we hate clown puke.
Previously, when someone posted up their hideous clown puked mess, everyone did a polite golf clap.
The only objective point that the puke-haters have been right about in this thread is the technical fact that shining colored light on painted surface makes the colors wash out, not POP like the puke-lovers say.
You can observe that with your eyeballs, the artwork on the various purple glowing playfields is reduced to a murky wash of purple and black.
That effect is anti-POP.
Also, I think you can objectively criticize the way that the colored bulbs bleed color all over artwork.
If you're trying to make Captain Hook's coat POP with a red bulb and his face and legs turn red too, it can rightly be said that the poppage attempt amounts to coloring outside the lines and was a failure.
We all know that you were trying to make his red coat do that righteous POP thing with the red bulb, but the color bled all over the whole character. So you said "fuck it, good enough", and then wandered off in search of cheetos. Nobody thinks you did the whole character red as some sort of artistic statement.
On the flip side, the pro-puke people have made no worthwhile arguments in the thread either.
90% of the responses have been jeering ad-hominem directed at other posters, which is not an argument at all.
To say someone is a bad person because he thinks that a puked game is bad looking is equally stupid as saying he's a bad person for liking a puked game.
It's a non-argument by people who lack the ability to formulate a valid argument.
Quoted from Taxman:No hair here. Been shaving it off for 20+ years

No.
Quoted from Taxman:Those awful know-it-alls. Why listen to Neo, Bryan or Art? What have they done in the hobby?
they have done NOTHING to help me in this hobby. Do they have experience restoring playfields? Sure, but don't mean they know what colours i prefer in MY pinball machine. (Or any other person for that matter) have a good night pinsiding there sport!
Quoted from irobot:Some of you pro-puke guys are so... sensitive.
I really respect that.
Says the guy triggered by light bulbs frantically posting post after panicked post trying to convince people they shouldn't like something lol.
I can tell you which one i'd be more apt to buy and which one i'd be having them knock several $100 off of.
Quoted from CaptainNeo:I can tell you which one i'd be more apt to buy and which one i'd be having them knock several $100 off of.
I've been doing more investigation because of this thread. Now I am seeing the prices they are fetching - and not asking prices, but actually GETTING.
the problem is, we don't know what things actually sell for. Very rarely have I ever sold anything at my asking price.
Quoted from CaptainNeo:I just did a writeup on facebook about the shitty use of LED's in games. And lately it seems to be an epidemic. So either we are getting a lot of newbs in the hobby, that other newbs are trying to encourage. Or the blind community has really taken a liking to pinball in the last year. I can't believe the amount of colortrash out there.
And no, it's not a matter of opinion. There is a science behind light distribution and how it reflects off other colors, both reflective, as well as translucency.
It's like cooking. If you want to make a cake with mayo instead of eggs. Sure...you can do it. But expect people to give you rave reviews when they are puking because of what you did.
NEO hates coming to my house. He always blames his playing ability on the colored GI and that things are 2 dark.....
Quoted from Pinfactory2000:Says the guy triggered by light bulbs frantically posting post after panicked post trying to convince people they shouldn't like something lol.
"post after panicked post"
LOL

Says the guy thats had a 3 dozen post tantrum about lightbulbs lol.
It is funny. You cannot read tone and temperament into these posts. But while we sit here laughing at puked game pictures the defenders come in and accuse us of freaking out. So defensive that one of them got kicked out of the thread last night. Trolling seems to be the mod reason but they were getting into the name calling a bit much.
I have a new picture to post. We have so many it is hard to tell if they are duplicate since they all look similar. So I went though the pics from this thread and to refresh my memory. Wow, this stuff is bad.
Quoted from Taxman:the defenders come in
Has anyone really defended the hack jobs (plus bad lighting and camera work) of the pins posted here? I certainly haven't seen it. They are a complete mess and hilarious to see.
Saying someone can do whatever they like with their own personal property is simply being true american patriot...It shouldnt be confused with a positive endorsement of the blurry messes we're seeing.

Keep taking it out of context and maybe you should troll the way of your buddy from the North.
I don't care how much [as in any] because it is over-done. You do seem to be in troll territory here.

only on the system 11's.

Like taking pics of pins with UV bulbs in a poorly lit room with a flip phone quality camera?
All in good fun. Less fussing and more pics please!! I’ve submitted at least half a dozen to your loose ‘movement’!!
Quoted from Pinfactory2000:Like taking pics of pins with UV bulbs in a poorly lit room with a flip phone quality camera?
You do realize "we" did not take these pictures, right? This is an awful end to a lot of decisions by other people.
People took the time to -
Buy games
Buy LEDs
Put the LEDs in their games
Take pictures of the games.
Look at those pictures and be happy with what they did
Decide those pictures are so good they should be shared forever on the internet
What are you defenders missing about the fact that "these people posted pictures they like"
Quoted from Taxman:you defenders
I find as much hilarity in poor leds as I do in the people triggered by them.
As a freedom loving patriot I am a defender of the trigger-er and the trigger-e.

Another blind troll. We are not "triggered". We just see the latest fad as bad taste. Triggered applies to the snowflakes who cannot handle criticism. Mommy said everything they did should go on the fridge.
Quoted from CaptainNeo:the problem is, we don't know what things actually sell for. Very rarely have I ever sold anything at my asking price.
Geez, I guess you missed the posts of a few here that have the final sale price and were auctions.... such as the Firepower, which had multiple people bid on it, pushing it's starting price of $1800 to $2475. The game is barely worth the auction starting price with plain old incan bulbs in it. A puked LW3 also sold with 43 bids on it. The winning bidder is not going to negotiate a new price after winning the auction.
Quoted from Taxman:Another blind troll. We are not "triggered". We just see the latest fad as bad taste. Triggered applies to the snowflakes who cannot handle criticism. Mommy said everything they did should go on the fridge.
That’s probably fair. There is more of a triggered authoritarian/socialist flair here than a triggered snowflake flair.
Rep given.
Here's a little handy hint for the trolls in this thread:
Telling someone that they are a bad person or have bad motives is not a valid argument.
Example:
Fred: "I think that the Industrial Revolution brought an economy had been based mostly on agriculture into a new era of mass production, heavy industry, and huge economic growth."
Bill: "Only an alcoholic racist would say that, you are a big poopy pants."
Do you see how Bill's argument doesn't really actually address anything that Fred said?
All it does is just show that Bill is a childlike moron who can't formulate a valid argument.
So next time you're writing your grand, triumphant statement about how awful the clown-puke-haters are, think on this a little.
Getting back to the topic of the thread a little, you can see that the colored bulbs make the games look very very different.
Surely you can grasp the idea that not everyone will hail the change as an improvement.
Some people are going to think that a glowing purple playfield is pointless and ugly looking. We're allowed to think that and say so.
If your feelings are hurt, maybe you should toughen up a little. We know you poured your heart and soul into making your Atlantis translate bright red, but you'll get over the criticism.
Quoted from Pinfactory2000:That’s probably fair. There is more of a triggered authoritarian/socialist flair here than a triggered snowflake flair.

Why do you keep negatively commenting on other people people's motives? While congratulating yourself for being "patriotic."
This is another logic fallacy called "strawman."
Someone says, "Look how bad this game looks, I hate clown puke."
The you write, "Oh, so you're saying that people can't do what they please with own property??!! You're such an authoritarian!!"
You expand the other person's argument until it's absurd, then you point out the absurdity. That is not a valid argument.
Show me in this thread where anyone said that people should not be allowed to puke up their games.
This is a point and laugh thread. Long overdue.

Tl/dr
Lemme guess...
Youre still complaining about what people do with their own pins and flailing wildly whilst trying to make your opinion sound ‘objective’?
Relax francis. There’s plenty in this thread for all to lolz at.
irobot & Pinfactory2000 either get a room and puke out a lovechild or take it to PM. You two are nauseating.
Quoted from sohchx:Those pops really "Pop"!!
I played a TZ with those pop rings installed. It was even worse in person than that picture. Very piercing and distracting.
Quoted from BillySastard:irobot & Pinfactory2000 either get a room and puke out a lovechild or take it to PM. You two are nauseating.
Pinfactory2000 should probably just show himself out or shut up. Going into a club thread and arguing against the sole reason the thread exists is ridiculously lame. How would that do anything but cause friction and derailing?
Also, the "people should be able do what they want" mantra, despite being a 13-year old kid's slogan after their first exposure to libertarianism, is not being argued against here. What is being done here is exposing the stupid things people are doing with that freedom.
So if Pinfactory2000 (does he even manufacture pins, or did he back in 2000, or is that a lie?) has an issue with the reason for the thread, maybe he can stop propping up the strawman and leave. Everybody would be happier for it.

Yeah, this thread has become overly redundant. And if I have to hear about that red Atlantis translite one more time…talk about something getting beaten to death.
I don't think this thread was intended to be an argument about bulbing a game one way or the other. It was about a bunch of guys that don't like colored LEDs on the playfield. Simple. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion.
I've posted some of my own games, actually several that I've had in the past and even a few that I currently own in this thread. I take in the comments and couldn't be offended in the slightest, but I have still come back just to watch and not posting nowhere near as much. Some of the games look absolutely horrendous, and some don't look that bad in my opinion. But as for getting upset, I could really care less.
Nobody in this thread is going to convince the other side one way or another. And some of the comments are impractical, and just to have to be taken with a grain of salt.
For instance, if somebody came to my house to buy a game and tried knocking off a few hundred dollars because they didn't like my bulb selection, they would be leaving without the game if they weren't willing to pay my asking price. I'd be happy to knock off $20 so they can buy a box of incandescent bulbs. If they choose to leave without the game, that is their choice and they would have wasted their own time. Simple. As for the task of changing out the bulbs and some crying about the labor involved, we all work on games and we know that the labor is something that isn't reimbursable too often. We eat that time.
I don't come in here to troll, I come in here because I agree with both sides of the argument. Some of these games look ridiculous. And if you've just got done bulbing a game, and you can't tell what that game is from 10 feet away, you didn't do something right.
This thread isn't about convincing anybody of anything. It's about just laughing at clown puke. There should be no convincing aspect to any of the discussion. The thread never was to argue about anything.
