is there only 3 GI's in that entire game?

looks like but used 60 watt bulbs instead !
Just picked up a Judge Dredd last week, went through it and threw all the LEDs right in the garbage where they belong. Red LED under a red insert, Blue LED under a blue insert, etc. why????
Where did this shit start and who is to blame?

Hope you are not serious.. I'll gladly pay shipping on excess LED's you have.. Of course, 99% of the time, you are correct for COLOURED ones, but they are still useful for other non-pinball projects.. and once in a while, can fit for a particular use in pinball.
It started when people wanted to make colours pop. TNT did some TERRIBLE LED jobs back in the day.. it's cringe-worthy watching some of the old videos.. lol.
Now, even OE is loaded with them.
Most of us are pretty happy with WARM Twin SMD types in most applications.. sometimes sunlight white... when you start to stray into colours, SMD strips and so forth.. it's a slippery slope- haha.. glad I was able to make it back!
I'm serious, and they belong in the garbage.
They're all different makes and the plastic is flimsy as hell, the metal pins are so thin and barely make solid contact. I'm sure Stern & Jersey Jack put decent quality LEDs in their pins, if they're factory that's fine. I'm talking about the pure junk that I've pulled out of the Bally/Williams pins I've bought. Some are colored, some are not, some are bright white, some are more dim. I purposely throw them in the garbage because I don't want them to ever find their way back into a classic pin.
I don't know how many machines I've seen that have broken mechs, old rubber, are not leveled, have switches out but they sure spent hours installing shit LEDs and didn't even do a complete job. It's just so fucking weird, forget about that junk and use that time and effort to make the pin playable. I fucking hate LEDs! : )
behind inserts are ok, as long as they are not colored LED's behind white inserts that are color printed. They do enhance inserts that are faded. But you cannot use the cheap old LED's. If you do, they flicker and will strobe your eyes while following the ball.
I use warm whites for most inserts, but found that color matching blue, green, and purple inserts really makes them look nice, especially if they're faded. For red/yellow/orange, why bother?
Quoted from transprtr4u:I generally use frosted warm whites for GI , I do use color bulbs under inserts, sometimes they don't look right and I replace with warm whites!
oddly enough pink under orange inserts make the orange really look orange !
I never use color for GI ... washes everything out !
Same here for the most part. Leds have a lot of benefits like less heat and ocd boards fix all the performance issues. Inserts have colors so not exactly crazy to enhance those colors a bit. I agree with color gi that is on 100% time. Nobody puts purple light bulbs in all your house lamps. It is fun to see how awful you can get, though. Still waiting for someone to put fast color changers in all sockets.
Quoted from swampfire:Using green for a jungle theme is unfortunately very common. I’ve seen so many Congo’s fucked up this way I felt compelled to post pictures of mine, to remind everyone what Congo is *supposed* to look like.
felt compelled but didnt? too much work involved? reminds me of complainers who work for me - piss n moan, but dont offer solutions. #Fired

Spending time and money to turn every pin into a clown show, stop it!

apparently we are rainbow bullies for posting these pics ! WTF ....
guessing after the blindness comes from these the sensitivity level from the owners goes up !
Why so many purple LED Dracula machines? I don't think I even know what a normal factory one looks like. haha.
What a travesty, disgusting.
How about these dolts just wear color tinted glasses and stop ruining pins.
Quoted from Jason43:Since the theme is jungle warfare, may as well camouflage the ball.
