The question of "Why purple?" has been bugging me for a long time.
This thread shows that most people who choose to go with a solid, non-white GI almost always choose purple... why not green, yellow, or something else that would seemingly be more visible?
Found this on a website: "The natural lens of the eye blocks the passage of ultraviolet light to protect the retina, but the absorption cutoff is gradual. The deeper the violet color is, the more it is attenuated. Visible violet light is right at the edge of the region of the visible spectrum."
Maybe the folks who purp out their machines are ones where the lens doesn't filter lower frequencies as much. Where we see an unplayable mess, for them it might look like it's lit up like Times Square.
Anyway, food for thought.

Give the guy a break, probably was influenced by watching the latest "Shark Week" 24/7 (lots of full frame blue underwater videography). The logical thought was water it blue, a ship sales on top of the water, why not make my PoTC GI all blue to simulate the ocean?

HA! Where did you get that picture? That's my old Demo Man. I got it from the operator which was Eastside Pinball as you can see on the apron. Even though I had already played Demo Man a million times and was really good at it, I thought it would be fun to have at home. I was wrong. The operator had it all blued out at the time. I sold it pretty quickly after buying it. I know it's been sold at least one additional time since then.

I found it. I know him. That is the second owner after I sold it that is trying to sell it.
