Now there’s 100 pages
It’s all in good fun with light hearted jabbing at people overdoing it with color GI. No offense for any of the posts but it’s this threads POV.
Quoted from CPanther95:I'm new to the forum, but I can't believe there's 99 pages of bickering back and forth about a subject that is just a matter of personal opinion. I can't even imagine how long this thread would be if it covered a topic that had more than one valid personal opinion.

Ha...you think a thread aboot colored GI is weird? Check out our NFL thread made up of 90% bengals fan that think they are a good team.
NO...I'm not kidding.

actually it's not about opinion. When it comes to GI lighting, there is a very important function to it, that is just as important as having strong playing flippers. If you cannot see, you cannot play. FACT: the human eye has difficulty tracking and focusing, in single colored lighting. (aka Monochromatic). therefore, you pull some bullshit like you see in this thread. if your gameroom is almost pitch black like 90% of the gamerooms out there, you will have great difficulty, if not impossible time trying to see and play.

Agree 100%.
I don't think anyone read my 2nd sentence.

Nope. As in most things in life there is a right and a wrong. A fact and a fiction. Colored GI run amock looks like shit. Fact.
This thread is a community service for newbs and any others who don't know better. We show them the light.
See what I did there?

Black Rose? More like Blargh Gross.
Nice.. I mean, even from that small thumbnail you can tell that it is anything from black.. She is now the Rainbow Rose, beaming brights into would-be sailors.
Quoted from snowy_owl:Bro. Come on.

One, two, Rainbow's coming for you,
Three, four, better lock coin door,
Five, six, it'll be hard to fix,
Seven, eight, pupils will dilate,
Nine, ten, Never see again.

2 (resized).jpgs-l1600 (resized).jpgthis to me, seems like someone ran out of white LED's and had to make due with what they had. It's such a weird setup, where the rest looks as it should.

No, this is a case of "tastefully LED'd"
Fuck, I hate that term. yeah, it's only tasteful if you like shit.

Are people *really* putting purple LEDs in games like that or is it because certain white LEDs show up as purple when photographed?
Please tell me it's the latter.
Quoted from TheLaw:I hope that Black Knight dies in a boating accident.
I don't, I just hope that someone with a brain and working eyes decides to change that GI back to white.
Quoted from alexmogil:Are people *really* putting purple LEDs in games like that or is it because certain white LEDs show up as purple when photographed?

I think that there are white leds in there...like maybe two of them But seriously, yes, some people put purple GI in black knight 2000. Psycho maniacs.
Quoted from snowy_owl:you got the power (ha ha ha ha), you got the might (no way), get ready for battle (give me your white leds), beat the rainbow knight!
It's a crazy thing when you look at a photo of bright LEDs and it hurts your eyes..
Quoted from CaptainNeo:he has blue and purple in the top, and white in the slings and inlanes.
Are you saying the carpet doesn't match the drapes?
Quoted from ImNotNorm:The best part of this thread is the witty puns and double entendre's.
Quoted from GTO:Are you saying the carpet doesn't match the drapes?
And you don't have to wait long!
It's the type of teamwork you don't see much on other areas of the site. Sans the occasional jackfuck crusader it's everyone working for the same goal; to end pinball sexual abuse via LEDs.
Quoted from GTO:Are you saying the carpet doesn't match the drapes?
i guess, but usually I prefer carpetless, so I usually don't know.

Violets and blues are just painful... I will never understand that choice. I don’t understand any of it but those colors especially... it makes your brain hurt.
Is any one else tempted to take all the bulbs that they have pulled out of games over the years and just color-bomb the shit out of a game and post it here? Just me?
Quoted from isJ:Is any one else tempted to take all the bulbs that they have pulled out of games over the years and just color-bomb the shit out of a game and post it here? Just me?
Now that would be fun. The only issues is that I've pulled a ton of bulbs from my games and sold them here on Pinside. Heck, as far as I know some of these monstrosities could be repurposed bulbs from my pins.

I want to put a fast color changing bulb in every insert and gi socket. How glorious would that be?
Quoted from snowy_owl:um $123,456? ...what?

Trade value apparently.
I’m picking up my 2nd pin this week from a nice guy who got it right .He installed 2 comet spots on slings to slightly brighten the mid Playfield on the IM.Ill probably going to do the same on the RR in areas needed but not the haunted forest. Its a haunted forest supposed to be dark right?Im new to this but I’ve seen so many pins ruined by carnival like lighting unless it’s the theme like a CV which looks great.Anyway what’s a GI? Lmso I just mentioned I’m still in my birthday suit with pinball.

GI stands for general illumination. The stuff that lights up the playfield.

Funny, I literally was going to post earlier today on here that someone messaged me 8 years ago with that exact plan...never finished it I guess.
