Quoted from spinal:

You can tell what the next release is by how many ads of that game you see flooding the pinside market. Serious collectors are connected and those involved spill info of next release and then they sell so they don't lose as much as those that are less connected. Insider pin trading of a sort.

Sorry but this is total BS. That is an imaginative rumor that people love to believe but it just isn't so. The few people who get real insider information, on certain titles, from different select manufacturers, are not organised or even be the same people.

There is no pinball Star Chamber or serious collector Bat Phone.

- Carry on Pinside.

Quoted from guyincognito:

Why BBB? That's only popular because it's rare?

Being rare is only one part of the reason why people want BBB. It is also very expensive and people want something for nothing...

That said, BBB has some of the very best artwork ever on a pinball machine along with fun music and wonderful, double entendre call outs. It's the only production, adult theme game ever made that I know of and I find it fun and funny. (The theme is an outer space singles bar. Big Bang, get it?

And despite what jealous people who never owned one say, it's damn fun to play with satisfying shots and action. (Not directed at you guyincognito)

Is it the greatest game ever? Hell no, not even close. But it holds it's own very well in a collection and I recommend it. (Hint: There is no greatest game ever)

To make my point (and brag I suppose). I just sold my Big Bang Bar 3 or 4 weeks ago after owning it NIB since 2007. If Planetary and Chicago Gaming remake BBB for $7 or 8K, I will almost certainly become a first time customer for them.

Just don't remake Dirty Harry. I paid $1500 for mine and I'd hate to take the hit.

#68 6 years ago
Quoted from T7:

Come on now - It seems kind of obvious that you sold now (after keeping it for 10 years) because you have that "insider information" of the remake.

I sold BBB for strategic reasons based on common sense and it has nothing to do with what you're speculating.

Because something seems obvious does not make it true. And this is one of my biggest issues concerning Pinside with all of its rumors and misinformation. These sorts of things are always based on the obvious.

Think logically about this alleged, Pinball Insider Cartel, and how they would operate and you will begin to understand. It's so easy to never question and simply believe in a conspiracy than it is to seek the truth.

Or, if you prefer, we are the elite, Trilateral Commission of pinball and your overlords, ruling from our secret society. - Send me $500 and I will reveal to you the next three games I'm going to sell.

Supreme Overlord 68, Council of Tri.

Playing 2 maybe 3 games, one time on a BBB or a KP at a noisy show, is an horribly inefficient way to develop an opinion. And that is the real circumstances for the typical show goer. And yet, expert opinions abound.

In all of my years in this hobby and the shows I've attended, I've never played KP.

Quoted from Hammerhead:

Using this argument, how could any manufacturer remake a game that almost no one has ever played, and not have some trepidation about their sales?

You can add Magic Girl to this thought. Not even the 19 or so owners have much of an opinion.

#132 6 years ago
Quoted from Tilt:

BBB to me is a unique game, with cool art. But i just dont see it being a "hit" Will they sell, sure, as good as mmr, no. I really think that the artwork, adult humor, can/will affect the buyers. Not all familys want that adult humor in the home

It's campy adult humor with double entendres that go way above an over protected childs head. There is no profanity or anything in your face. I used to watch cartoons with my daughter that also had insider parental jokes. To each their own.

#149 6 years ago

Reading everyone's thoughts has me re-thinking about buying any re-makes. I think I got caught up in the excitement of this announcement and lost my way. I'm really more interested in buying new, like Houdini or TNA or ....to be determined.

One thing you can say about these remakes is, they have helped keep market prices in check for the past few years. Can you imagine what the top tier used games would be selling for today without them?

#174 6 years ago
Quoted from adamross:

Where did anyone hear that KP was being remade? That wasn't in Rick's post.

Kinpin is being made by Circus Maximus alongside the Pinball Circus game but the announcement hasn't been officially made yet. Only fat cat insiders that secretly control the market have this knowledge. There is already a flood of KP's for sale.

A special prosecutor needs to be appointed and this pinball collusion must be rooted out.

#191 6 years ago
Quoted from spinal:

Yes, thank you. All I meant was that there are *some* serious collectors that know for sure what game is next and some of them put their games on the market.

How can only *Some* collectors cause a *flood* of sales on Pinside? A flood with such an impact, that it can be monitored to predict the future? Your words.

Quoted from spinal:

You can tell what the next release is by how many ads of that game you see flooding the pinside market. Serious collectors are connected and those involved spill info of next release and then they sell so they don't lose as much as those that are less connected. Insider pin trading of a sort.

Look, I apologize for picking on you but you just happened to be the latest to walk into my gun sights on this issue. And other true believers have chimed in after you with comments or voted thumbs up/down. You are not alone as this ridiculous rumor has persisted on Pinside for years. Four or five years ago people made this very same claim after a perceived "Flood" of BBB went up for sale.

Quoted from HighVoltage:

Are you taking bets that the next game is not going to be MB?

No, I'm not going to take that bet because I happen to believe that MB is the next title also. But I base my belief on common sense and not on inside information as I have been accused of in this thread with the recent sale of my BBB.

Quoted from T7:

Come on now - It seems kind of obvious that you sold now (after keeping it for 10 years) because you have that "insider information" of the remake.

-------

That all said, it is my fevered hope that instead of MB they will announce Cactus Canyon as the next title. Oh man would I love that as I also sold my Cactus Canyon months ago and guys like Hilton will be jumping up and down accusing me of all sorts of conspiracies.

#195 6 years ago
Quoted from rubberducks:

People are liquidating what they think is likely to be a heavily depreciating asset.

That's a bingo!

#202 6 years ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

seems common with you...

It does not take a genious to see that for EVERY remake (or vault) there have been people on the inside that leaked info. That info spreads among a group and the sales slowly ramp up. It happened for MM, it happened for IMv, it happened for AFM, and now it has obviously started for MB and BBB (and CC).
The word spreads to friends of firends in the know and they slowly sell off for top dollar before the remakes officially drop. That then encourages others that may not be in the know to also sell if they want to cash in (for fear that a trend of sales points to an imminent announcement).

I dont actually think you know squat from the inside (besides the likely next title as MB which seems to be the obvious and prevalent rumor). You like to think you do and play off of it, but it is pretty obvious that you just took a general wag that more remakes will be coming of the high dollar games that you owned and sold them off while the gettin was good. You have sold MG, CC, and BBB. You sold them all at top dollar and likely the height of the market. Pretty smart if you ask me, esp since you seem to be more burnt on stuff lately and looking to shake up the collection.

Other than a little snark (which you and I do) that is a pretty fair assessment and the point I have been trying to make. Nice!

#258 6 years ago
Quoted from jkashani:

I cant wait to see what they do with BBB.

Yeah, ummm. ...I'm not so sure how quickly this will happen or even if it will happen at all.
After thinking about this, I'm a bit skeptical. We'll see I guess.

Quoted from Yoski:

I asked Gary Stern if he will remake some classics (Quicksilver, Seawitch, etc.). He said, too many drop targets, too expensive to manufacture, not going to happen.

I mean no disrespect to Stern Pinball or to Gary, but this is Gary Stern's opinion as it pertains to his company and his current methods and set up. Another company, perhaps a start up company might think differently or find another way. I'm not saying this likely but I am saying its plausible.

Quoted from John_I:

I still say they could make a simpler game like Fathom or Centaur for $5500 and sell a bunch.

Agreed. I own both of those games and would sell them in exchange for NIB if priced well.

Quoted from Flowst:

Still, i am willing to bet its Mosh pit time.....

Yeah, I've been thinking it's going to be MB also but I now regret it. I mean, the only reason I was tending to believe that was because 90% of Pinside keeps telling me Monster Bash is next. Monster Bash is next! Monster Bash is next!

Now I hope it's any title other than MB just to shut up Rumor Control.

#406 6 years ago

Or change it into a casino betting line thread.

MB 1-1
CC 2-1
TOM 10-1
BBB 20-1

#409 6 years ago

Actually, I'm more confused than ever what the next game is going to be. I'm just glad I'm a spectator in this fiasco and none of those titles affect me.

Quoted from Mr68:

Now I hope it's any title other than MB just to shut up Rumor Control.

#420 6 years ago
Quoted from Rasavage:

To me, the games that cost more on the secondary market are most likely to be remade first. BBB, then CC , then MB, then TOM.

I get what you're saying but if this theory were to be true, then why was AFM made before BBB or CC? Both of those games have traditionally sold for more than AFM.

I'm beginning to think that game choices at Chicago Gaming are being decided by beer and darts boards.

#431 6 years ago
Quoted from whthrs166:

My MM is still special! I made it that way. There are two people out there right now, ones that buy the remake, and the ones that are scarfing up all the originals for great prices. Who is the wiser? Time will tell. As for me, I'm both!

Umm, I had a buy back clause when I sold to you.... didn't I?

Quoted from colonel_caverne:

If PPS improves the code, you can keep overpriced original (whatever the game)

It will depend on how much the code is improved. They'll need to release a file description of any additions or improvements to see how it stacks up.

Quoted from turbo20lbs:

That being said, if BBBr comes out and they leave it alone, I see that game becoming known as a dud. Its really not that great of a player.

I respectfully disagree and found BBB a very fun game with some of the best art and sounds ever. Very cool interactive toys too.
Everybody is entitled to their opinion of course, but I believe many people's expectations are set way too high before playing one. Because of the enormous price, most people cannot justify what they sell for and I believe that clouds their judgment concerning game play. Not accusing you or anyone but I also believe jealousy subconsciously plays a role in some people not liking it.

It's not the greatest game ever but easily a top 100 and most likely a top 50, IMO. If they remake it, it will be the only title of the remakes that I'm interested in.

#780 6 years ago
Quoted from turbo20lbs:

Why do so many assume code will be updated/improved on certain remakes? They haven't touched code thus far on the others.

Seems like wishful thinking that just cause the code sucks on a hopeful remake, that they will make it better.

This I absolutely do agree with.

As I recall, Circus Maximus worked out a deal with Planetary Pinball for the Kingpin trademark.

In regard to BBB, see attached picture with the announcement from Planetary Pinball.
Quote: "What I can tell you is that in the list of likely remakes are CC, MB, TOM, BBB"

It was that announcement 2+ years ago that launched this thread.

It would seem that Planetary Pinball owns the Capcom rights. Here's a quote from Paul of Circus Maximus in the Kingpin thread:

Quoted from pkiefert:

We mentioned this in our seminar at SFGE a few weeks ago, and since it was mentioned in TWIP today too, I’ll mention it here.

We have an agreement with Planetary Pinball to acquire the Kingpin trademark.

Any chance PP remakes TAF? Seems like a no brainer to me

I doubt it. More than 21,000 copies already in circulation.
And I know what you meant but technically it's CGC that is making the remakes, not PP.
