Sadly, the biggest pinball location in the VA/DC area has closed. We typically had 10-30 pinballs, 2 weekly leagues, 9 years of the Fairfax Open and a few Fall Classic tournaments.

News story on the closing of John's Place:
    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-state-of-nova/post/last-call-for-johns-place-king-of-the-northern-virginia-dive-bars-in-fairfax-city/2013/01/10/9c4d5698-5aac-11e2-9fa9-5fbdc9530eb9_blog.html

We are looking for a new home for the VA leagues - http://fspazone.org/ - as well as the Fairfax Open - http://virginiapinball.org.

If you have any ideas for locations, send them along.

In the mean time, you can join the FSPA league near Baltimore (Volleyball House), or join the pinball league in College Park, MD (Town Hall).

    Go support location pinball.

There is pretty much nowhere to play pinball publicly in Northern Virginia now

Any idea who made the trophies?

It's too bad that a quality location closed, hopefully someone will see this as an opportunity in the area.

Ugh! Also a good biker bar in the summer. That sucks.

Trophies were made for us by Matt at www.backalleycreations.com who now makes cool stuff for Jersey Jack.

    Edit: better trophy link:

that stinks, always hate to see places like that close. maybe some pinsiders in that area can get together and start their own place to replace that.

I was there a few nights before it closed. Great place, great lineup. The pins there were really nice and well maintained. It sucks that pin players complained about the bar part of it instead of supporting it better.

Yeah, it's next to impossible to make a living solely off of pins/arcade these days. There almost has to be a second element in the mix that helps with revenue. Hearing news like this always makes me sad -- it's the place like this that I most prefer to go when I'm out.

BadBrick and I got a chance to play at John's this past year. Loved the place, shame to see it close.

I certainly did my part to support the bar end of the gig ; )
