I recently finished shopping and adding LED's to my DE BTTF and I thought I would ask why this game is rated so low.
I know am biased since I grew up with it in my favorite pizza place in my hometown and was willing to drive 1500 miles to get one, but hear me out.
I get that the ruleset isn't the deepest, but it also isn't as simple as some would make it out to be. There are a few different strategies you can use.
1. You can focus on knocking down the drop targets and locking balls for multiball then drop the targets again in multiball and hit either ramp for the 2015 or 1885 (depending on which ramp) jackpot that progressively goes up as you drop the targets and hit the ramps from 500K to 1 million.
2. You can focus on hitting the MCFLY targets to increase the Casino spinner (which also randomizes the clocktower bonus).
3. You can hit the DOC targets to increase the multiplier.
4. You can hit the ramps to spell DELOREAN and get the million per ramp bonus (Deloean Millions), or you can hit the Clocktower shot to achieve bonuses (such as extra ball, 100K, Turbo Bumpes, etc) and the 500K century bonus for getting all of the Clocktower bonuses in one ball.
5. The Skill Shot requires you to hit the left ramp within a certain timeframe and before any other switch is activated, not a bad skill shot in my book, but not great either. The double your score skill shot bonus only applies to a score of less than 700k and it is random, you may get the 100k, 200k, 300k, or Extra ball.
6. The music is amazing! The BTTF theme, 2 Huey Lewis and the News tracks (my favorite band of all time), and a ZZ Top track. Not to mention all of the great callouts.
So other than not liking Data East and the lack of Michael J. Fox, what am I missing? Personally I love the machine and it will never leave my collection.
