Hello

I just picked up a DH and set it up. It was playing fine and the the lights started to act very strange until they stopped working all together. The flashers still work.

When I put it test all lights mode I get a lot of clicking from relay 1 and some very dim lights.

When I reboot I get lights for a moment and then sole flicker here and there.

Any advice?

Thanks

M

Reseat all your connectors and ribbon cables on all boards in the backbox and connectors in the bottom of the cabinet. Something may have come loose during transport or set-up.

If you are still having issues pull and check your fuses with a DMM.

All fuses are good, pulled them out and inspected with a DMM.

As of now the lights are not coming on at all.

#4 9 years ago

Did you reseat all the connectors?

#5 9 years ago

How about the LEDs on your board? Are they all lit?

#6 9 years ago

all the LED's on the CPU and MPU are correct.
i did reseat all the cables.
no fuses where bad but i replaced the ones that had corrosion.

i swapped MPU's and prob remained the same.

i get faint GI lights on boot up.
at the same time the opto transmitter in the canon (switch 44) is not getting proper voltage.

i don't know if these are related problems.

I JUST REMEMBERED, occasionally the first few solenoids in test mode will not function after playing the game for awhile.

Take a spare lamp and test it against one of the GI pins straight from the board. Let's find out it that bad boy is pumping out juice.

when a lamp is plugged directly into j120 or j121 the bulb reacts just as the play field and back box did.... lights up on boot for a moment and then goes dead.

Measure power at each test point. Report back.

Scroll down to WPC-089 driver board.

DMM on DC voltage.
Black lead under the head ground braid.
Red on each test point in turn.

i will measure the test points today.
update: all solenoids have stopped working.

Sounds like your 20v circuit has a problem causing the GI and insert issue.

Quoted from aveamike:

When I put it test all lights mode I get a lot of clicking from relay 1 and some very dim lights

The relay and GI have U1 on the PowerDriverBoard in common. Possible Triac signal problem:
Starting at CPU-board U9 ASIC pin 66
Going to J211 pin 13
Via flatcable to PowerDriverBoard J113 pin 13
Going to U1 pin 11

Measure continuity or just carefully push U9 into it socket. ( You allready reseated cables )

hello zaza

i don't see a J211 on the CPU.

thanks,

m.

J211 is connecting the CPU-board with the PD-Board with the grey 34pins ribboncable, cant' miss it.
But did you push U9 in it's socket ?

#16 9 years ago

pushing U9 fixed it!

#17 9 years ago

Nice...love it when it's easy

piece of cake

Well, luckily aveamike noticed the clicking of the relay, if it wasn't mentioned, I wouldn't have thought about the TRIAC-signal.

now i just have to figure out why the gun opto transmitter is not getting enough power.

If you have a replacement transmitter, better try that first.
