I've taken a cheap HF gun and converted it for regular latex following these steps:
I've done 3 or 4 cabs now this way.
You just have to experiment with thinning.
Being latex, I just thinned a little at a time with water until desired flow was achieved.

Here is a pic from the last restore I did, although it was only a Motordome, I installed connectors pretty much throughout the game.
