I cannot think of a better movie licensed theme. The emotional attachment that people have to that movie and the amount of possibilities with the theme would be endless. Plus, it straddles the horror/action/comedy genres perfectly.

A Jackpot mode where you have to lock the ball in Jaws mouth(oxygen tank) and then hit it again to blow it up while the Jaws theme plays with increasing intensity? Sign me up!

    Somebody, anybody, make that happen.

    This would be great

    #5 6 years ago

Would have been an awesome theme 30 years ago. Not so sure now.

    #6 6 years ago

This and The Big Lebowski would be delicious.

100% disagree. I'd rather it have modern technology and a DMD/LCD.

Would the WOZ pin been better 70 years ago? Yeah, thought so.

It couldnt be any worse than it is now.

    Thanks for that setup!

You're gonna need a bigger boat.

    #10 6 years ago

Well supposedly they are remaking Jaws (blasphemy if you ask me). If the remake ever sees the light of day a licensed pinball machine might make it to market.

    #11 6 years ago

Here's to swimmin' with bow-legged women!

    #12 6 years ago

Yep, I agree it would be a great theme.

    #13 6 years ago

Already have Jaws in Baywatch, he has his own flipper!

    #14 6 years ago

Farewell and adieu to you fair Spanish ladies, farewell and adieu to you ladies of Spain............

That's what I would suggest: someone just re-theme a Baywatch to Jaws and there you go.....

Yellow barrel pop bumpers and a shark cage like the safe on sopranos

As soon as it hits 75 years old, JJP will say it's ripe for pinball.

... and if Stern did the pin, the only toy would be a bobble-head shark in the middle of the playfield.

    #19 6 years ago

The biggest problem with this idea is it is 35 years late.

    Then again.....WOZ. LOL

My money would be on a SHARKNADO pin.

It would be cool if it were instead a pop up scoop in the form of a shark that would eat the ball and take it below.

    #21 6 years ago

There is a new JAWS slot machine that is pretty popular in casinos these days. A new JAWS pin is a slam dunk.

That is the kind of thinking that could help Stern. Very cool idea.

Cue Jaws music ... suddenly one of several scoops just pops up and "eats" the ball. Scoops pop up in different locations and then drop down. You never know where the "shark" is at any moment. Wizard mode is a sharknado that opens all of the scoops while you frantically try to keep your ball alive and hit targets to complete the mode.

OK, but now you are arguing a separate point. Of course technology is better now. Your point is one of theme. WOZ would have been a no brainer theme for a pin 70 years ago. It is not such a good theme for today which is why I didn't buy it, and still won't. WOZ owners who bought the pin for the theme alone are in the minority. This wouldn't be bad for small manufacturer with a smaller run but I don't think it would sell the numbers needed for Stern or JJP to be considered successful unless the gameplay was awesome, and then it would sell because it was a players machine. Basing a game off of a 30+ year old movie is almost as bad as a 70 year old one.

Pinmods is a very wise pinsider, someone make this happen and take my money!

This theme would be better implemented by JJP. The theme screams for a widebody, and the interactive toy would be beyond Stern's normal expenditures.

    #26 6 years ago

I want this theme more than any other.

    #27 6 years ago

I do not think that there is any theme that is a no brainer. While the movie Jaws was a great movie in my opinion, it might not be as successfull as a game. Any theme used, in a machine being sold, is governed by two types of people. Those who like it, and those who don't. Those that don't obviously would not buy it, and even those that do, like me, might not like it enough to plunk down 4-7 thousand on a machine. I do not think that there is any theme that is a no brainer.

A no brainer doesn't mean universal appeal. It just means successful appeal.

Color scheme with lots of greys, blues and of course, red. With proper implementation it would definitely be a slam-dunk.

99% of the "License X Would Be Great For Pinball" topics contain no gameplay ideas whatsoever.

I applaud you for including a very cool jackpot idea in your pitch!

Now, how do we get around the problem there is only 1 monster in this movie?

The John Williams score out to sea, and of course the Jaws theme would need to play throughout...

If any indication of the Stern most recent hints on their facebook page... JAWS could be a real possibility ... I don't think JAWS is hung up to dry just yet... jaws.jpg

Jaws is a dead property. Please point to any dead property that Stern has licensed to support your notion that it is a "no-brainer".
