I agree with the connector assessment. I would pull the boards for a close visual inspection, starting with the power supply. Look for any cracked solder joints or possible short circuits that could have occurred at the connectors
However, if it's not booting up now, it could be chips, which is over my head at this point.

I was wondering about that. Lot's of connections. If you have the schematic, double-check those connections. I have learned to take pictures after having incorrectly plugged some games myself.
