The emulation looks really bad, how can they not even bother with reflection and fog effects. Zelda OoT just deserves so much better, it was a masterpiece and they literally sucked the atmosphere and life out it.

Quoted from Darscot:

Did anyone pay the expansion pack, word online is it is really bad. Is it truly as bad as the internet rage?

I was waffling due to the crazy price…and you know me, I normally don’t complain about Nintendo prices. If the emulation is as half-assed as people are saying, I’m definitely gonna skip it. Premium price should = premium product.

I’ll just play it on my 3DS if I ever play it again. That’s the best version & the 3D is awesome.

Yep, it is so great on 3DS. I actually bought HDMI adapter for my N64 hopping to play through some stuff on the big screen but it does a terrible job. I did hook my Wii up via component through an older amp and it looks really good. Just getting started on Metroid Prime and at first it feels pretty rough but by the time your in the ruins it is awesome. It still has that atmosphere and music you really feel all alone. I couldn't decide if I should play the Wii or Gamecube version but settled on the Gamecube you lose a little graphically but it was clearly designed with that controller. Everyone wanted FPS controls at the time but the controls are great for platforming in that perspective.

I just saw the picture online and I am always a little skeptical when the internet rages. Sometimes it just steamrolls so out of control over totally minor things. Right now there are all kinds of video of it lagging horrible online but who knows what kind of internet people have. That picture looks hard to defend though, it looks like shit.

No Gauntlet Legends!? Psha!

#4058 39 days ago
Quoted from northvibe:

If you have a launch switch, you potentially could get more for it since it is “hackable” and the mod community may pay more.

I have a V1 Switch that Ive had for a bit and did exactly that. I've modded it and have a 256gb card full of games. You can "download" games if you'd along with homebrew and a great version of mario 64. If anyone is interested, Im thinking of selling. Has original box and all accessories, wires, dock, two neon blue joycons, 256 gb official nintendo micro sd, and the sd loader so you can boot into the modded custom firmware. Shoot me a PM. Thanks!

I was actually considering an OLED switch purely so we could play 5 player Mario Kart in our house. Until I found out that's not even an option..

GS has the Ori collection pretty cheap for those who haven't had the opportunity to play them yet. Visually stunning and great playing metroidvania type game that I very much enjoyed.

My brother is on "please wait" on the BB checkout screen. The one he had secured for me two days ago through Walmart was cancelled yesterday. I keep refreshing both as well with no luck yet.

I snagged an oled today at bb. So I guess my launch switch is for sale if anybody is interested. It is in great condition.

Pokemon: Hi all, are there any beginner Pokemon games for the Switch? I know nothing about Pokemon but my kids (10 & eight) have been talking about it lately. They are trading cards with kids from school. I don’t think they know much about it so looking for something easy that they wouldn’t have trouble playing/understanding.

Pretty much any pokemon game is going to be easy to jump into. You can't really go wrong.

I will preface, pokemon snap is more of a picture taking pokemon game. it is easy, fun to see, explore and get to know pokemon, but is not the traditional pokemon game. However my daughter (3) and I play and it is enjoyable.

If the Switch games (sword and shield) are anything like the Pokemon games for the Gameboy thru 3DS, they're pretty easy to learn.
You don't generally need a manual either. The games tutor you thru in the beginning, and will help you learn along the way.

Well, for the journey / adventure games yes.

Neither are the Mystery Dungeon games or Pokemon Pinball (that doesn't mean they're not fun though).

Wife picked up a white Oled at a GS in store restock so the kiddo's Christmas is all set (now I can get mine back to finally play Dread). She just happened to be by one doing something else at Target and dropped in. She batted her eyes at the guy and he called all the local stores nearby and got them to hold one for her while she went over to go pick it up. Good to know at umm "40 something", she's still got it.

I'm underwhelmed by the ACNH 2.0 update. I only get to play the game multiplayer with my wife and daughter and basically nothing that was added is for multiplayer... I got the cafe and we can all go in for a 2 second sit down to order coffee. You do it once and it doesn't feel worth doing again. Even the cafe would be immensely more interesting if there were a menu of items to order and/or you could get a cup to go and walk around the museum/outside with it.

The paid DLC looks interesting, but also single player, and I guess if I had time for single player sessions, I'd rather play a different game.

My opinion on ACNH is that local multiplayer was an afterthought, and they make it pretty inconvenient by restricting so many activities to single player.

Why not let multiple players go to a mystery island or the photo place together? We barely touched these extras because of the restrictions.

This is a surprisingly fun way to play these games. Probably because I loved G&W as a kid, and if they looked like this back then, my mind would have been blown.

Don’t forget to redeem the 300 My Nintendo points in the box! Ya never know when good physical freebies will show up!

zelda is a better build, you can tell they learned. But I HOPE they release more. I want to get another to modify for all G&W games on it, but man it is so fun and my kids enjoy just messing around with it. I like to put zelda on "clock" and they can play the game casually

I would love to see some devoted to GB/GBC games. Mario Land/Wario Land. Heck, they could do another Zelda and include all GBC Zelda games.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I'd love to see an official Gameboy or Gameboy Color mini. Something barely playable, like the Game Gear Micro.

After the success of the NES & SNES minis, I thought for sure they’d do a GB. Game & Watch is almost that…but I think people would love a little keychain GB with 30 built in games.

I was actually thinking of giving GTA a go on Switch, I was hardcore Nintendo back in that era so I never played those iterations. Sounds like the remaster is pretty terrible on all consoles but a complete disaster on Switch. It runs 480p handheld and 640p docked and struggles to maintain 30 FPS. Sucks because GTA is such a fun goof around kinda game it could have been great handheld. I can't believe how bad they screwed it up.

Yeah, I was looking forward to playing GTA3 again - but they majorly fucked it up. A mobile port to Unreal Engine with AI upscaling…so many bugs and typos. I would have rather had a straight PS2 port with the same exact graphics and art direction, but an improved frame rate. The whole debacle inspired me to just play my PS4 GTA V instead, which I barely played when I got it 3 years ago.

I thought about GTA on the switch, but I'm going to hold out of GTA San Andreas on Oculus. Really looking forward to that.

I just picked up Metroid Dread on a whim, haven’t played a Metroid since Super Metroid. Anyone have any time on it yet? Is it good?

I played about an hour on it before my daughter disappeared with it and has been in an animal crossings coma ever since. Wasn't a huge fan of the escape the EMMI when it first happened but I'm sure I'll get used to it. Seemed pretty cool otherwise. I am a big metroidvania fan though. Highly recommend Bloodstained ROTN if anyone hasn't played it yet and likes those types of games.

I got hooked to it and finished it in 2 days. It's a great game, I know the EMMI got criticized but I think it's a welcomed change of pace that adds some tension in an overall fairly contemplative and easy game.

Clearly Dread is far from Super Metroid but I doubt anyone will ever reach that master piece, but it takes a good place next to Fusion, a well put well designed Metroid although a bit too guided.

How about a super metroid remake? We're remaking everything else, why not.
