Quoted from OutpostKodelia:

You could try gripping the vertical rail with some pliers (padded with some felt or something like that if you are worried about marring the metal) and bending it away from the ball guide, bit by bit, until the piece snaps in. Likewise you can bend the ball guide away from the rail slightly, which might be the better option since it won't risk causing any issues with the loop lane. Either way, the fit is meant to be snug, the part should barely fit through before it snaps into place. Let us know if that works, or if you don't want to go that approach, and we'll see if we can figure something else out.

Here's what I did to get this to fit if your machine is too tight of a squeeze for the Rush spinner lane correction mod to easily snap into place.

1. If you lift the playfield so you can get at the screws fort the spinner lane top ball guide, take the nuts off of the spinner lane guide.

2. This will give you enough give to then press the guide out of the way enough to press the NinjaCamp piece into place.

3. Replace the nuts that you removed/loosened for the spinner lane ball guide and your're all set.

Hey guys, a recommendation from the Rush owner's thread... update the install documents (the scoop protector in particular) to warn that there are sharp parts at the beginning of the steps. Having it in as a footnote is nice, but if you're not someone that regularly has your hands in pinball machines you may not already know of this fact.

Yeah, should read the directions in their entirety before starting the project... but still. You've definitely got more happy customers over there!

Yeah, I saw that... I have that and a few other changes to make, plus putting together instructions for the speaker light kit... I'll be working on all of that in the coming days.

I saw it too and I say it is a bonus for anyone who reads the instructions all the way through before installation (like you are supposed to do)

It's officially Led Zeppelin compatible, also the first field installation of our Expressive Speaker Lights kit! Audio isn't great, but that's not really the point, is it?

Okay folks, here it is, the announcement you've been waiting for! We will begin taking orders for our Expressive Speaker Light kits (it's entirely unintended that this also abbreviates to ESL, so forgive us, you're going to have to type out the name so we know what you're talking about) on Tuesday September 6 at 10AM PDT!

This gives us time to produce as many as possible over the weekend, and it gives everyone a fair chance to get in the queue instead of missing it while on vacation over the long weekend. We won't be doing preorders, just regular orders, but it will be limited to around 45-48 units for the first run due to limited supplies.

We honestly don't know what to expect here. If sales explode, it may take us 2-3 weeks to get them all produced and out the door, but we'll do our best to minimize this. Should these sell out fast, don't worry... if this happens, we'll be reordering supplies asap and should be able to have the next batch available in early October.

If you haven't already done so, look over the listing. There are a few important things to consider for compatibility, and the details are all there.

Once again, mark your calendars for Tuesday September 6 at 10AM PDT!

I have a few questions. I have a Rush Premium with the Pinwoofer Spike 2 system and LZ expression lighting. My speakers have the stock panel and pinwoofer's kit spacer to mount the speakers. I have never seen a LE so don't really understand the differences. I want to know if your kit will work (I assume yes). And will it look good. I am not clear on which product you are recommending from speakerlightkits.com in translucent gold and where that goes. Can it go on a premium? How does it affect your product? Are your leds embedded or attached to a speaker ring that I can replace? Since my machine originally came with smaller speakers than LE does that affect the visibility of your product? Thanks in advance. I know several pro/ premium users who already have the LZ expression lighting so it will also help others.

#663 1 year ago

If you have a pro or premium you will want to buy these two items. The black frames allow you use a 5.25 speaker. The colored acrylics go on first and most of them allow some light to pass unlike the LE metal one from Stern.

So how it will go is you replace with Speakerlight 5.25 bracket then you put the acrylic piece then Expressive speaker light kit then your speakers.

I have Pyles on my Rush but you can find decent kenwoods on Amazon for cheap and Pyles. Hope this helps.

I am not associated with Ninjacamp but love their products and have converted many of my Stern premiums to 5.25 speakers and speaker lights

To clarify, did you get the pinwoofer system with 4" speakers, or did you upgrade to 5.25" speakers? If you have the stock plates, then you're probably on the 4" speakers and it wouldn't be compatible at this time.

I also saw the mention of 4" speakers on that page, but I overlooked that it was for Spike titles, not Spike 2, sorry about that. Anyways, no, this will not work with that setup. You'd need to get the speaker plates from speakerlightkits mentioned above and remove the 4" adapters to use this kit.

Same for Rush LE I assume.

That said, my only question is how do we know that this won't damage anything in the game. I keep reading how sensitive Node boards are, so I'm a little hesitant to connect something to them. On the other hand, these would look amazing in Rush. I'm assuming you've done a lot of testing to put people's fears to rest? Or maybe I'm the only overly cautious one.

I'm sure OutpostKodelia will reply but as someone that has investigated the EL setup I can help back this up.

These kits are pulling power from the 48V accessory plug that is available on the power board, a plug that is expressly designed for such things. While they are tapping in to the link from the node 2 board and the EL distribution board, that is only to fork off the serial data line. This isn't going to be pulling any more power from the node board. I work on pins on the side and from what I know about this kit I have 100% confidence that what NinjaCamp is offering won't cause any issues.

Yes, this was developed on a Rush LE, so it's definitely compatible!

We've had the prototype in our game for weeks, and we have one in the field (though just installed yesterday). We're just consuming a data line output from the Node 2 board. The only way I can see that it would cause issues is in the case of a catastrophic failure in the LEDs, or a significant power surge. They get a full bench test after assembly, which eliminates the risk of catastrophic failure due to assembly or power issues and, if you install it properly with the power having been off for a couple minutes, it should be no more risky than the chances of the main expression lights having a catastrophic failure.

That said, like any electrical mod this is a "use at your own risk" situation. If you're not comfortable taking the risk, then you shouldn't.

Something worth mentioning on LZ LE....the blue speaker surrounds from the factory are metal and therefor will not allow any light to shine through them. So, I believe you will get much more impact from the new expressive speaker lights if you switch them out to surrounds that DO allow the light from the light kit to shine through them.

As seen in the picture attached, my LIGHT BLUE surrounds are a very near match to the LZ LE factory surrounds but do allow the light to shine through them.

We love to hear this! Thank you so much! As to Godzilla, nothing in particular in the works, maybe a TPU protector type of part, but that's kind of on the back burner. Certainly nothing so dramatic as these speaker lights.

Make sure you're sliding it on all the way until the tab on the back side snaps into place against the wire rail. If the tab isn't grabbing the rail snugly after it snaps in, you may have some manufacturing variance in the space between the ball guide and the wire rail.

Hey everyone, I'm sorry but I have to share a little bit of bad news. We learned yesterday that oliviarium 's father had passed away. That's thrown our speaker light kit production off a bit. We won't have the first shipment out today as planned. We're aiming to get some in the mail tomorrow, with a bigger batch going out earlier next week. We will try to keep these going out quickly thereafter, but there may be slight delays here and there as we work through her father's affairs. We thank you for your understanding as we continue to work through these curve balls life has been throwing us of late.

Oliviarium is my wife. But thank you - thank all of you - for the kind words and understanding.

Quick update on the speaker lights: the first batch of kits will ship out today, with a bunch more going out at the end of the week (hopefully all orders will be complete by then and we'll be all caught up)! I'm going to try to get the instructions written up today (I actually have to revert our machine back to stock so I can get the relevant photos, so it's a huge PITA and I've been procrastinating on it, but I'm about out of time, lol) and hopefully Aniraf can get them posted tonight or tomorrow so people can get a look at what's involved in advance of their kits arriving.

Have a great week everyone!

Hold the phone folks... I made a mistake in the instructions. When installing the light rings, the black side of the ring is the side the speaker mounts to. The instructions said the black side goes against the speaker panel, but that was wrong. Again, the speaker mounts to the black side of the ring. I'll try to get corrected instructions up ASAP tomorrow. My sincere apologies for any frustration I've caused anyone with that mistake. :'(
