Quoted from hisokajp:

let's hope Cayle George doesn't see this post

Eh, AFAIK he doesn't like anything 'fixed'. when I asked the same question on tilt forums long ago with the poll of 'fix bugs' he said leave it alone. So he can exploit it.

All soren has to do to fix the Johnny Mnemonic exploit of the hand vuk is make the hand vuk worth zero points, for instance.

Quoted from bluespin:

That was a seller in Alabama and it was a really beautiful example.

Picked it up from Jon (Hailrazer). It was a grail game for me and I'd never seen one for sale out here in a decade that wasn't practically belt sanded up the middle. Bolted to the floor and a beautiful place to store things on out there in the garage About to dust it off for the annual Halloween garage opening.

I recently torn down a Nine Ball and while installing the parts back I found that I have 3 post that are shorter than the rest. The pictures that I took do not show where these 3 pieces go. Anyone happen to have photos for these 3 post?

Thought I would post here as well for anyone that in considering purchasing a new CPR Nine Ball playfield.

I’m really impressed. Arrived flat as a board, no warping, clear inserts, none of them raised, and no visible errors to my eye. They really did a great job on this one.

See they pulled a CPR classic and changed up some insert colors eh?

#1159 1 year ago

I love the colours but this seems a bit rubbish no?

all of the above but specifically the alignment. some of the inserts have the same but its less noticeable.

in any case happy CPR have done one as Mirco's stuff is junk.

Where CPR is losing it with this saucer is they are freaking out with how to locate the saucer hole.

On the factory play field the hole is centered on its chute and part of the hole sits under the side rail.
All CPR needs to do is center the hole and don't worry about the side rail.

Even my Mirco play field got this one right.

What did you snap? The red plastic target? PBR is stocked out of anything that would work.

I could make one of from clear polycarbonate easy enough. And then paint it red on the backside. It would not be exactly like factory, but it would work. And it would not break.

I’ve also pinged that other guys as he has a target almost perfect without the bar part - hopefully he could make a batch also.

Mine was broke too, a cool Pinsider sent me one in exchange for Beer money.

Other pinsiders saw them for sale at Mayfair Amusements booth, at the white rose Pennsylvania show.

Try If Mayfair Amusements has an online buisness.

Good luck.
Cheers.

Would you have the ability to transfer drill the holes in your snapped target into a different piece? I can cut you a blank that you would need to drill the two mounting holes into. I can send it via U.S. Mail. No charge.

If I need to drill the holes, then $10.00 shipped.

you would need to get some rivets from Steve at PBR.

PM me your address and I will make you one up.

I've joined the club, getting this pf clear coated after fixing the middle part and lock kickout. Thinking of doing water slide if I can find a file. Anyone have said file or a better way of fixing this? I don't want to buy a new playfield since I would be well over budget. Thanks

Prepping my gameroom for TNA's arrival very soon! I think the best machine in my collection to pair it next to has to be Nine Ball! Not only because it's a similar size, but also a similar hard-as-nails play style. But the incandescents have bothered me. Since I refurbished it, I've always wanted to throw Comet Sunlights into NB...but when I did it a year ago I got a nasty LED flicker. So today I've installed a board kit to reduce the flicker...works good, but the 1-9 inserts still exhibit a strobing flicker during gameplay. They look okay in attract because they aren't on solid. Any ideas? Is there a ROM update that solves this?

Thanks!!

Hey gang-

I'm going through my basket case of a Nine Ball and starting to clean the playfield. What would ya'll recommend to clean a severely worn playfield - I don't want to pull up any more paint than necessary, but I would like it to clean up as much as possible. Tried to attach pictures, but pinside is throwing an error. I'll add some later.

Thanks for any insight.

I always start with Simple Green and paper towels. For areas with heavy dirt down in the cracks I use a magic eraser cut into 1" cubes with a bit of isopropyl alcohol. This will remove paint so you have to constantly look at the magic eraser to ensure you stop before lifting too much paint.

You have to know when enough is enough. You can never remove all of the dirt in the cracks. After I have it clean to my liking, I then do acrylic touch-ups where needed. Of course, fixing any inserts and wood damage as well...then clearcoat. If it's only small repair areas I'll spot tough the clear and wax the crap out of it. Works fine for me.

When you get it cleaned up, you might consider a play field protector for it. To smooth out the inserts.

Checking to see the route people went on LEDing their Nine Ball playfield lights. I'm leaning towards Pinball Life's version of yopsicles, but am not sure about the wiring around the left side of the playfield (drop target area) without the braided wire and have no idea how to cleanly run the wire. I know the replacement boards to 555s are available, but I'd ideally like to stick with one system instead of a mismash. Ideas?

Thanks-

i replaced that part with individual socket when swapping the playfield and had no issue running cables. took some initiative but it worked fine

could someone take a picture for me of the correct one ,someone stuck a Bally Coil in there & I want to make it right

I think its J-28-2300

Thanks

You can just get some wire and staple it down to run a new power bus to the sockets; not hard at all. Frankly you probably wouldn't even need to staple since the the LEDs would be so close together.

I used the light board on mine as it was before Yopps, but I've used them on multiple Sterns and super simple. I would have used them if they existed then.

Buddy of mine did my F2K playfield swap with yopsicles, turned out really nice. However, F2K doesn't have the light boards that Nine Ball does. I could get you a pic of how he routed the wire for the yopsicles on F2K if you think it would give you some ideas.

Yeah just screw them down and solder the wire on.

Picked this nine ball up. It was non working. I replaced reflector board with new connectors. New MPU and solenoid board. The 10 amp fuse blows and it won’t start a game. Looks like full mylar from the factory . Playfield is pretty nice.

10 amp fuse is feature lamps. It would not prevent you from starting a game. Looks like in pic there are 27 credits. Did you put both balls in the game? I think unless both balls are registering, the game will not start.

You can always go to switch test to confirm that both outhole switches are good and, also that the start button is registering as well. All 3 need to work for game to start.

Looks like J1 on the rectifier board is wired wrong.
It was an 8 pin connector from the factory.
The replacement rectifies have a 9th pin (for games like KISS).
Slide the three wires on the right side, one space to the left. Space 9 should be empty.

Check all 3 switches for continuity. No one has ever talked about a Cherry switch going bad, but pinball life sells them so it is worth a check.

#1199 1 year ago

Also check the switches for the ball locks behind the 8-bank of drop targets. Problems with those switches can also prevent the game from starting.
